QuoteSilver Dagger Absolutely deserved. He did as much to augment and hone the Rolling Stones' sound from 67-75 as George Martin did for The Beatles during their career. If ever there was a sixth Stones than it would be Nicky. Where would Sympathy For The Devil, She's A Rainbow, You Can't Always Get What You Want, 2000 Light Years From Home, Street Fighting Man, Angie, We Love Y

Quoteloog droog QuoteBig Al Rest in peace, Michael Nesmith. A sad day passing for popular music. The Monkees recorded the most infectious, feel-good pop music; and Mike Nesmith was an instrumental component to that. I only know their hits, but their albums I’ve often considered exploring further. I do know that their third long-player, Headquarters, saw them branching-out and playing their own

I am happy there was a tribute to Charlie. Unless people from this forum were actually there and in the room, I think it is pointless to speculate about who was invited or who should have been invited. I can only imagine that Charlie's family must be extremely grateful and overwhelmed by all the support and well wishes they have received since his death. As a long time Stones fan, the world

Quote24FPS Obviously the Beatles. They hadn't toured since '66, and were still putting out hit records. The media attention alone would have been enormous. They might have pulled in another quarter million just on the strength of them being there. They could have previewed cuts from the soon to be released Abbey Road. It took the Beatles breakup for the Rolling Stones to really come int

QuotePaddy I’d like to see a proper series on the stones, akin to the Beatles Anthology project. Something on that depth. We’ve already lost Charlie’s interviews for such a project, I’d like to see it happen before any of the rest of the guys pass. Blue and Lonesome Part 2 would be welcome, but who knows the part Charlie may have played in them sessions, a part 2 might not be possible, an EP

QuoteTheGreek So very typical Stones tour where they start out with 19 tunes in the set list and then one got picked off to 18 tunes and by tours end they whittled it down to 17 tunes ! I don't typically make it a habit to engage in these kinds of threads, but I will say that for the kind of money the Stones charge for their shows, I think it is an insult to the fans to get less than 20 so

Quotejahisnotdead I finished Part 3 just now. I think there's too much repetition in the music overall. We hear these songs many times as they are being written and then rehearsed. Often we get to see the Beatles go into the control room and listen to the playback. By the end of the movie it was hard for me to really get into the music because it felt like I had just heard these songs a doze

Quotechevysales nah I dug opening to Licks at Fleet Center. Keith was all over the stage that night like an uncaged tiger. and they nailed it for an opener... and lets not forget we also got Stray Cat Blues that night as they "featured" and album each nite of that great tour. what an undertaking 3 shows/venues in big cities!!! I made a comment on this in another thread, but from my perspective, the Licks tour was their last great tour. And yes, what an undertaking for a pretty conservative band that does not readily mix-up their set-lists- to visit a city and play a stadium, arena, and smaller theatre venue (although not every city got that royal treatment-it seems that the American dates were more varied). I do agree

Although a little ragged in spots, this is a good early show from the Voodoo Lounge tour (and the Godfather version has been the one in my collection that I listen to more often than not), with a nice setlist and decent performances of tunes like Wild Horses, Rocks Off, The Worst, Monkey Man. Definitely worth having in the old collection!
