just reading a few posts and obviously people are dissapointed in ticket prices, the band only doing 4 gigs, no new album but only 2 new songs instead, recent concert gigs on download only and other gripes aswell. if i had my way, the rolling stones would be going for another 10 years or more, with 1 new album every 2 years, 1 massive tour every 3 years, vaults being opened every 2 years, num

just looking at the discography of led zeppelin. seems that the band made the same amount of songs in their entire short career than the stones made since 1989, when obviously the stones were a lot older and no need to be nearly as motivated as they had little left to prove. also heard that led zeppelin only gigged around 250 times, which is about 1/8th of that the stones done in their en

the best and most economical way to buy stones products. is to fisrt become a fan, usually somewhere between 1962 and 2012. wait till the band announce they are no longer active and have called it a day, this could be anytime between now and the next 30 years. only then do you start to but their records. work your way from the last release backwards this means you can buy a coup

i like this site but i get really p1ssed off with the amount of threads suggesting breaking news of an album, tour or some other activity which just ends up being total bullsh1t. i would ban anyone from this site who tries this tactic again. its been ongoing since 2007. and weve had no tours, and as yet no new album.

its disapointing the band havent made more of an effort in the studio in the last 2 decades but since steel wheels and including they have made around 100 songs if you include the outtakes, cover versions on live albums and the recent 2 songs still to be released. 100 songs in 23 years aint too bad considering the bands age. thats an average of just over 4 songs per year so with a bit mor

im just glad they are still on the go. i thought they had chucked touring in 2007,nothing convinced me they would tour again so its a pleasant surprise we have some gigs coming up. 2 new songs, maybe an album next year and hopefully more vaults getting opened. i agree they need to freshen up, but we have to accept they cant be the band they used to be and why should they. they have n

the thing is, very few people care about solo releases, they want the stones, the tours were great and they put in a lot of hours to do the gigs they done, but they still only did 4 stones albums, which could have been 10 if including the outtakes, it wouldnt have meant recording more material, just rescheduling the material they already have.

the band have made a lot of mistakes and with the benefit of hindsight might have done things differently, but they have also made a lot of great songs. i think they have undersold themselves by not releasing the correct singles, prefering to back a handfull of songs many of which are average ie its only rock and roll, miss you, before they make me run. and yet completely ignore the likes of

now that we think the band are going to do at least 4 gigs, what do we want in the setlists. would be great if they could drop the extended versions of some songs, and replace them with several short versions of old classics. also would be great if we didnt get the same warhorses for every gig. some songs should be ever presents. brown sugar jj flash paint it black but thats abo

i really like "we love you" although when i first heard it in 1988 when i bought "rolled gold" i didnt take to it. years later i saw the video on youtube and it brought the song to life. loved this period of the stones. so underrated.

i liked both beatles and stones, but while the beatles were catchy tunes and easy on the ear, with some wonderful songs, they lacked the energy, aggression, beat and variety that the stones had and for much longer. when i listen to the stones i can go from something beautiful like as tears go by, to citadel, to something as infectious as jigsaw puzzle to aggression like rocks off, back to cat

citadel is a fantastic record, also heard an instrumental version on youtube which is awesone. i loved the stones in this period, from out of our heads through to beggars banquet saw the band develop new depths and sounds to add to thier already impressive repertoire. dont understand folk who dont like the aftermath period or between the buttons, and satanic majesties is only a couple of song

some people dont realize the huge overheads in the stones doing a tour. over 250 people are part of the project and need to get paid, they dont earn a fortune like the band members do and cant consider doing it for nothing like the band members could. these tours need a very large outlay financially for them to proceed and any reduction in ticket prices reduces the profit substantially, e

1735. Re: Keith
no one can take keiths achievements away from him, would love to see him one last time, but if he cant play why dont the band announce its all over, i would respect them better for it, the end has to happen sometime. theyve given so many people so much over so many years, they have nothing to prove and they owe no one.

cant see it happening, but would be pleasantly surprised if it was. would love the stones to do something different. not the same old songs, but fresh setlists, that change dramatically from gig to gig not just by the odd number or 2. and would love them to play stuff they have never done, theres a challenge.

never understood how a complete change of personel in a band can be the same band. it works with partly changed personel and for the stones 1 of the positions in the band has been taken over by someone else, jones being replaced by taylor then him being replaced by wood. the other 4 places in the band remained the same till bill left, so 3 of the band are still left, if any of them left i
