Damn those Rolling Stones for working outside of the group!! Scandalous!! Anyone who has been a fan since 1964 deserves to have everything they want....all of the time!!! Sure hope Mick is listening! Maybe this specific post concerning a hard core fan's dissatisfaction with "Super Heavy" will cause him to drop the project and convene a meeting with the Rolling Stones post haste!!!

Chuck Klosterman at www.grantland.com writes: Amy Winehouse died after making just two albums, which is bad news for Amy Winehouse and all the people who love her music (and for music is general). But she died at the age of 27, which is a meaningful detail to anyone who decided to set up a posthumous Google alert for the word "Winehouse." People will never stop talking about the hand

You realize that the lack of Darryl defenders on this board means absolutely nothing, right? I personally love the way he plays with the Stones, but that doesn't mean much either. What really matters is the fact that he has been with the group since '94 and seems to be very respected within the realm of professional musicians. I like Bill, but he quit. I really don't understand

Amazing tune. Interesting that so many people think of Exile as 18 separate songs as opposed to a living, breathing, hunk of stunningly brilliant music. One of the reasons Exile stands out so much is because of the variety of songs, how they meld into one another, how they echo influences as opposed to mimicking them. "I Just..." is one of the songs I play for people who think they unde

Posters on a Stones board complaining that Keith Richards hasn't been active enough for them? Funniest thing I've heard in a while.

The concept that Dylan's audiences need to be sympathetic is absurd. The guy is a genius and his band is amazing.

When I was much younger, I would have ranked the post-Exile, pre-Some Girls albums as such: Goats Head Soup It's Only Rock and Roll Black and Blue For the past couple of decades, I have realized that the ranking should actually be: Black and Blue It's Only Rock and Roll Goats Head Soup For whatever reason(s), GHS bores me to tears

I will preface this by saying I've been playing drums professionally for the past 30 years, and that Charlie Watts is my favorite Rock and Roll drummer. He plays with a distinct, discernible feel which is incredibly difficult to simulate. He is one of the very few drummers in rock and roll history who understands what to play, (and when to play it) to push his band to another level; a half f

Haven't been able to find any quotes about Keith saying that '81 was a low point, musically speaking. I mean, if you consider '81 a low point, more power to ya. But, no need to bolster your opinion with b.s.. I swear, your opinion matter on it's own. It really, really does. What you say matters because YOU believe it. For instance, Hampton '81 is my favorite bootleg. T

'81 was amazing. The Stones performances had nothing to do with how the film was edited. Ashby friggin' idolized the band. His comments concerning the film are fairly easy to find using, you know, a search engine. But, why let comments from the director of the LSTNT inform you? You have an opinion, and that is all that matters. Apparently.

Keith's playing post-brain surgery has worsened. I disagree completely with the concept of lumping his playing from Licks through the accident together with his performances after the fall. This happens a lot on this board; using Keith's performances after he had a large, potentially fatal, blood clot removed from his brain to make it seem as if his playing had diminished mightily be

The concept that the Stones have done damage to their legacy is insipid. Unless they tour again, the last thing the vast majority of the public will remember about them is "Shine a Light", which was met with generally positive reviews for the film itself and rave reviews for the band. I understand different people think that the band "peaked" at different times, but to ins

If they tour again, I hope Taylor and Wyman stay home. The whole "reunion" thing smacks of cheese to me. If Keith needs more help than Ronnie and Blondie, then they should all just stay home.

Seen Springsteen three times. Not even close to the Stones. Never. The worst Stones show I ever saw was still sloppy and interesting. The best Springsteen show I ever saw was fine, but absolutely by-the-numbers in every conceivable way.
