QuoteNaturalust Interesting blog. Thanks for the post SweetThing. I must say though that I disagree with his statement about the magic being gone from the last tour. His limited participation really didn't give him the chance to show what he really could have done to the entire Stones set. With Ronnie and Keith in their mostly typical roles of filling up the guitar space, it would take more

Yes, all fine albums, but maybe time for people to give a listen to Ron Woods Gimme Some Neck again. It does seem forgotten. And, its quite good..

I came across this thoughtful blog about a month ago. At least one man's opinion that Taylor was serving the Songs and The Stones and not just merely playing carelessly over the top of everything.... Why I Owe Mick Taylor an Apology By Daniel Kumin • Posted: Jun 23, 2014 Mick Taylor, back in the day Long, long ago, I was trained as a “serious” musician. Yet throughout a decad

QuoteLoveYouLive Speaking of Mick Taylor... if he isn't sick and he is definitely not going out on the road with the Stones this year, why isn't he playing his own dates? Nothing says your fine like going out and headlining your own dates. He did answer that question (sort of if you count whoever is posting on Taylor's facebook page under his name). He seemingly said he had a l

QuoteNaturalust QuoteRokyfan QuoteDandelionPowderman Quotekleermaker QuoteDandelionPowderman Do you know who Stern is, kleerie? I saw him talking with Taylor in Fallon's show and I found it funny. Taylor responded nicely too. But do I have to know the man, supposed it's possible? I mean what he usually does, how he treats people and how his "radio show" is? Do you? I mean

Quotestones2000 Quotebv I told you once and I told you twice. If you post political it does not matter if you are John or Paul or George, I will ask Dirty Harry to silence you within a split second. QuoteMisterDDDD If you honestly believe that The Rolling Stones haven't put out or on anything of high value since 1981, then you need to be honest and call yourself what you clearly are.. a former fan. Just like Taylor is a former member. No shame in admitting it. I'm not sure there's a litmus test. Perhaps for you there is, but not for others. I must've read a hundred

QuoteNaturalust But hey, since Chuck is the musical director these days, maybe he made the decision to exclude MT.. That would certainly give the many Taylor fans who dislike Chuck's playing something to squawk about! LOL peace Yes, it certainly would. But it seems the opposite. Chuck in some interview credited himself for that night in California where they finally played CYHMK a

Quoteproudmary QuoteNaturalust Quoteproudmary How come Joyce Smyth is now just Mick Jagger's lawyer? ..from fixing the backing choir to the ticket prices. She even designed a T-shirt. Likely because she is referred to as "Mick Jaggers lawyer" in NYTimes articles like the following and probably does work with him more that any of the other Stones, probably even on some of

QuoteLuxuryStones Quoteduke richardson QuoteTravelinMan Andy Johns said in an interview Taylor complained about being shut down whenever he had any song ideas. I've been there and it ultimately led me to quit (amongst other reasons). I'm just surprised he didn't record a solo album as a member of the Stones when he had the most clout, etc. That wouldn't have been allowed.

Quotestonehearted Quotecrawdaddy There wouldn't be a credit for it. Either a paid extra for being in he The Italian film , or more likely, just going to a gig there that night and they were filming on one of the 3 or more days the film crew were there. The Stones were youngsters then,as some of us were, and all work makes Jack .........................or Brian,Mick,Keith,Charlie or Bi

With all due respect to bv, who I feel generally has a great deal of patience, as well as obviously being a great Rolling Stones fan, I do find the decision unfortunate....and in my opinion, in a class by itself.

QuoteTheBlockbuster All people I've meet who are Taylorites who thinks Taylor could bring the Stones concerts to a whole new level if they included him in the band again, has been old men in their sixties, who saw the Stones with Taylor in the 70's. Since this group of people is a small minority of the audience at a Stones concert, there is really no reason to believe the Stones wou

QuoteStoneage The belief that Taylor, in his present days status, would be able to rejuvenate a bunch of 70 year-olds who has been on auto-pilot for decades is beyond comprehension. OK, despite the evidence I saw to the contrary...even though it was hit and miss.. but would it be fair to call this then the "VEGAS" ERA after all? Just a bunch of 70 year old guys going through the moti

QuoteNaturalust We all may be trying to read much more into the simple decision that one or more of the Stones (probably Keith and Ronnie) just decided that the one tour was enough for any guest. It clearly is a new tour so inviting him out again would have just seemed like something they had already done. They probably feel they gave Taylor a huge gift by wisking him around the world with 5 star

During the 50th Anniv Tour(s), I never bought into the notion that Taylor was brought along as an "insurance policy", and still don't, but the it occurs to me now it is not such a dumb idea really. Ronnie and Keith being in good shape at the moment (or many other people at this stage of life) is just that.. the *moment*. Apart from the fact I am simply disappointed that Taylor wil

Quotealimente If they can't be arsed to write and record an entirably "new" album, my advice for the album is: "Some Old, Some New, Some Borrowed, Some Blue" Some outtakes from the past re-worked and finished, a handful of completely new stuff, some cover versions, some blues tracks. Et voila! There you have it. Or not? Scabie Road.....

Quote71Tele The most intriguing scenario for me would be to do an album with the 1969-1974 line-up, (plus Ronnie), ALL of whom are alive and available. The fact that the Stones themselves don't consider this an attractive challenge is rather disappointing. That would likely be the best way home for the Glimmers to a relative commercial and critical happy ending...something old, somethi

Jim Kerr is at least a fan I believe. But that station, once a Stones hub, is Led Zep, Who, AC/DC, Pink Floyd all the time... and a fairly limited selection from those even, in heavy rotation. The oldies station represents them better... they might as well have done the announcement on CBS... haven't checked, but might even have more listeners.

Quotebv This thread is sticky because it is one of the most ON TOPIC threads at the moment. To avoid duplicate threads on the same subject. Because Keith looks great in the pictures. Because it is rock'n'roll. Because it is NYC. Because Keith is the most visible Stone just days before the tour announcement. And because it is not a travel advices thread. QuoteDoxa About that Wood/Taylor axis... (which seemingly works damn well...) It was also news to me that Jagger contacted Taylor in 1977 and asked him to join the band if Keith will be locked away (my imagination just can't grasp what it would have been like...) Interesting that there is also that rumour already from 1973, coming from Nicky Hopkins (!) if memory serves, that Jagger wa

QuoteStoneburst Quoteindystonesfan Quotekleermaker Quoteindystonesfan I don't see the Mick Taylor situation as a situation at all.
