Anyone think this is Brian Jones in this clip ?

Seeing as the initial excitement of getting Stones tix has eased, found this video the other day.

Eel Pie Island 1966 where Rolling Stones played weekly at some time in 1964.

I reckon it is Brian at about 2:40 in the background.

Thought Andrew Loog Oldham was also on the dance floor ,but don't think it is him now. winking smiley

Certainly looks like him at 2:45, behind the very, very red hair.

I thought he may be too big, but they may be smaller guys and gals around him, or else he is standing on a beer crate.

Alan Ladd the cowboy actor used to stand on a crate, as he was a short arse as well. smiling smiley

If it's not Brian, it certainly is someone who does look a lot like him. I think it's Brian.

It certainly does look like him, but then again his look was very popular at that time.

How about some background on this clip. Is it from a movie?

According to the Brian page of the IMDb [www.imdb.com] aside from TV archive footage and Charlie Is My Darling, there is only one film he appeared in that year, and it was a black and white German film in which he appeared uncredited as himself: [www.imdb.com]

The clip comes from an italian movie called "Fumo di Londra" (a.k.a. Smoke Over London), directed by Alberto Sordi.

I know that part of Twickenham very well since the early 70's and although had never been on Eel Pie Island, went to several pubs on the riverside.

Can't remember them speaking Italian there much though. smiling smiley

It does look very much like Brian, and The Stones did hang around London a lot in those days.
I read somewhere that a lot of people at that venue were either students hired as extras or people who were there for some live music.

Spent at least 3 days filming there apparently.

It is a possibility it's Brian Jones.

Also possible it isn't.

<<Keith Relf from the Yardbirds>>

His only IDMb movie credit for 1966 was Blow-Up.

There wouldn't be a credit for it.

Either a paid extra for being in he The Italian film , or more likely, just going to a gig there that night and they were filming on one of the 3 or more days the film crew were there.

The Stones were youngsters then,as some of us were, and all work makes Jack .........................or Brian,Mick,Keith,Charlie or Bill a dull boy, as the saying go's.

The Stones may have been youngsters, but they were also major rock stars by 1966. I don't think Brian Jones, with his considerable desire for the spotlight, would have just stood around on a film set like a nobody and not try to get something out of it. If it were really Brian, the IDMb would have him listed as participating in the film as "Himself (uncredited)".

And since no Stones biographies have connected him with this film, that alone should tell us that it wasn't actually him.

I don't think its Brian Jones either, but as for IMDB, as great as it is for a source, and getting better all the time, I've noticed the very odd/obscure omissions in recent years. Happily it seems the data finds its way in eventually, but if it were Brian here for a couple of seconds, this would be just the kind of thing that might not find its way to being documented....

Someone mentioned Brian liked the spotlight etc. and wouldn't lower himself as an extra in a film.

Well George Best was a big name as a young footballer in 1965, and just a youngster out enjoying himself.

I can remember seeing this live on TV as TOTP was a must see as a youngster.

Life was different back then and a lot of celebs not so aloof.

Brian was so cool in the mid-60's.Just look at the early Stones covers. The Fans loved him.
In thoese days there were lots of Brian look alikes/wannebees.
So don't think it's him - but very similar.

The fellow in the film looks a bit taller.

To an extent, it could also look a bit like Keith Relf or even Peter Noonan. Just in my view.
