QuoteMarhsall Why on earth should Ron Wood be hurt for MT playing some overdubs on these old takes? I mean, they are not overdubbing on Some Girls outtakes ... VERY good point! AGREE 100% I also never heard Ronnie complaining about keeping Mick Taylor's solo in Tops when they released it seven years after he replaced him.

In an interview during the 1973 tour, Mick T and Keith said they dropped this song from the set becasue it sounded too much like "All Down The Line." While I def agree with that statement, it is still a great song. Of anyone has the live version from the first London '73 show, please let me know where I can find it.

QuoteSilver Dagger Worst Stones song since 86. Boring, plodding four to the floor stadium beat and written in desperate hope of copying the success of their last major hit Start Me Up. They just sound so tired, like they're going through the motions. And that insidious beat is constant all the way through, there's no sense of musical drama like the attacking guitars coming at you in U

Thanks guys. I had a feeling it was Brian. And yes Sohoe, this is by far one of the greatest Jones-era performances. I much rather prefer the version of Yesterdays Papers from this show to the one on BTB. It's also great to hear Mick sing the first line of Lady Jane and then hear the crowd burst into thounderous applouse and a live version of Going Home.

I was listening to the boot "In Action" from Paris '67. Does anyone know who is playing those awsome Rick Wright-type keyboard parts on Goin' Home/Satisfaction? That can't be Stu, can it?

Quotebernardanderson the acoustics in the skydome blow. the stones should do a club tour of toronto. spend two weeks here playing the horseshoe, lee's palace, the elmo, opera house, grossman's for example. now THAT would be a great way to say goodbye to the city. It might have been Canada's "mistake by the lake" but given the acoustics of Skydome, most of Canada's

QuoteGazza Quotestevecardi I read somewhere that they tried Shelter and Rambler at Sir Morgan's Cove, but since a tape of that show is probably non-exsistant, we'll never know. I dont think they did, steve. I think I read that on the old Sir Morgan's Cove website. Rember, this was well before the internet, cam phones, and small tape recorders. I wish to God someone could post t

Quotebuffalo7478 They probably will not play Buffalo again after half filling an 80,000 seat stadium in 1997. Funny thing is, that is more of a normal Stones crowd at this point in the US. They did not even sell out the Rogers Center (which seats maybe 45,000 for a concert and 52,000 for baseball) on their last tour. Sad thing is Buffalo (like Cleveland) used to be prime Stones territory; the

QuoteCocaine Eyes They played Maple Leaf Gardens in 1972 and again in 1975 (I was there). Then in 1977, Keith had his troubles at The Harbour Castle Hilton and he was "persona non grata" in Canada for many years. That's why we had to drive to Buffalo in 1978 and again in 1981 to see the Stones. Finally, in 1989 Keith was allowed back into Canada. In 1979, Keith was allowed to play

QuoteLightnin' Quotehot stuff At the hall of fame they looked great...Everyone seemed happy. Except Bill and Charlie of course. Bill had some very strong personal objections against wearing a dinner jacket for the occasion, or so he said later in a TV interview. Mick T explained their absence by saying they were "unavoidably detained and can't be here tonight" But yes Ron

Quotebillwebster They have such a huge catalogue of songs to pick one and make it your own by covering it. This one and "Almost Hear You Sigh" would be my picks if I were a singer. "Almost Hear You Sigh": last great Stones ballad.

It shows why Brian was one of the greatest bottleneck players . Brian Jones brought the slide guitar to the masses, being the first white boy to play it in front of audiences around the world on television. For that reason alone, he is on

QuoteNickB There's a case to argue that Jim Morrison is nothing but a 6th form poet. But also arguably very good at making 6th form poetry sound great when combined with music. I am the biggest Doors fan in the world, and I would have to agree to an extent. A lot of Jim's poetry is pretentious as hell, but most of his lyrics (2oth Centry Fox, The Changelling, Strange Days etc) are som

I'd have to say Steel Wheels was the last album that mattered not only because it was their "comeback" album, but also because "Mixed Emotions" was their last hit single, and because of that song, a lot of young kids in 1989 got into the Stones; look: at videos from US SW shows: the audience is a lot younger and a lot more alive than what we've seen since.

Bedspring Sympathy is mostly from the Brussels show, but Happy, Gimme Shelter, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo and Street Fighting Man are from the final London '73 show; I prefer the Brussels version of Happy/GS, but the London version of Street Fighting Man just might be the most intense Stones performance on record.

The Doors connection to the Stones 1.) John Densmore said the Doors realized that long, extended songs could work in rock after they heard "Goin' Home" 2.) Mick Jagger was present at what is regarded as the worst Doors concert recorded on captured film (Hollywood Bowl 1968); Mick and Keith were both present for what is widely regarded as the best Doors performance captured on

QuoteEdith Grove I saw JPJ back in mid-nineties at a club close to my home. Great show, and a few people I talked to seemed to think JPJ influenced the Zeppelin sound more than most people know. John Paul Jones wrote many of Zeppelin's classics that Jimmy Page got credit for in the minds of the public (sometimes because Jones didn't get credit on the album) including Black Dog, Go
