Hard to say. Obviously a lot had changed since they last toured, but Paris 1967 shows that Brian was still more than capable of playing live, so in theory, he still could have been up to it. Then again, it's painful to imagine a live "Love in Vain" and "Midnight Rambler" without Mick T

No one is going to confuse them for "Jumpin' Jack Flash" or "Gimme Shelter," but I'll go to my grave believing that the Voodoo Lounge b-sides were the best songs from that era. But "Jump On Top Of Me" is something more. I listen to it just as much as the classic stuff and all the obscure stuff we'd sell our souls to hear live. To me it represents a gro

Agreed people can say what they want about KISS, but the fact remains that Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter are all huge Stones fans. Gene himself said that what he loves the most about the Stones is that with them, "it's not about the money, the fame or the women. For the Stones, it's only rock 'n' roll." And I don't care if I get flamed for this: KISS did a live ver

Quoteoriginalstones I heard that the Stones never had any intention of naming an album "Could You Walk On The Water?". I heard that it was an Andrew Oldham publicity stunt. There was supposedly a photograph taken of the Stones up to their necks in water and I've never seen that photo either. I heard the same thing, but I also heard that the cover for what became "High Tides

All very interesting. I was under the impression that the reason the first Berne show was horrible because it was a couple of days after Keith recieved his so-called "blood change" treatment for heroin addiction. I'm not sure if that's true or not (haven't heard any boots of these shows either)

QuoteErik_Snow Quotestevecardi not personally but I did hear the 8-track of SG has a completely different version of 'Beast of Burden' with alternate lyrics and a different tempo. Don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, a mp3 would be most welcome. Different mix, and features some different vocal snippets, and different background-vocals - and some different guitar-

LOL hasn't that been the case with every Stones album, that you need a couple of listens to in order to truly enjoy it and love it--like an "acquired taste?" There were saying the same thing even with Exile back in the mid-70s. Now, it's considered to be the boys' best album. Heck, who knows: maybe in another 10 years, ABB will be listed alongside Beggars, LIB, SF and Exi

QuoteGazza The article doesnt actually say he was 'addicted'.... +1 And heroin is not a drug 90% of us can try a couple of times and know if you like it or not (although Keefy is right: some people have been able to, but it's a combination of the right genetics, and being as tricky as hell)

I think this is the point: Ronnie was never a "threat" to Keith like Brian and Mick Taylor; Keith tells Ronnie what to do; Ronnie does it; and never makes a move to overshadow big brother.

QuoteStonesTod Quotestevecardi QuoteStonesTod to me it was clear ronnie had begun to lose his chops already by '89. tasteful? at times. but, some of the raw, nastiness of his playing, which pervaded his prior tours with the stones was alarmingly absent....never really to return, as it turns out.... QuoteMidnight Toker Today, the problem with the Stones is with their production both live and in the studio. Woody is turned down in the mix and is barely audible. The boys need a new producer, turn Woody up, bring back teh Jagger/Richards harmonies on recordings ( no hired back up vocalists) and let the guitars rip. t. That means drop Don Was like a bad habit, and bring back both Andy Johns a

QuoteDandelionPowderman Wood's best tour, ever, imo. Well, music being subjective, I would have to give Mr. Wood's best tour to Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle. The most tasteful, elegant, and consistent lead playing I've ever enjoyed from that man during his time with the Stones. His YCAGWYW solo from Live At The Max alone is worth the price of admission. Would have to agree

Quotehwkn I have that KC soundbord btw.......the version of the 2nd Philly show I haveis excellent btw. +1 I have the same boot, and it is indeed an excellent recording of an interesting performance (listen how Black Limousine begins not with its intro riff, but as a Jimmy Reed 12-bar blues shuffle.)

Of the four Stones shows I saw, three had opening acts which sucked like hell (as a New Englander, watching the Black Eyed Peas open for the Stones at hallowed Fenway Park was far worse than finding out they brought Justin Timberlake on stage with them.) On the first Boston show of No Security, the Goo Goo Dolls opened. While I would never be as so stupid to say they upstaged the Greatest ro

Quotekleermaker My first stadium show was in The Hague, 1976, end of May. Beautiful wheather, a fine evening, a good, almost intimate, atmosphere (it was a very small stadium). . Was this show at the Zuiderpark where they had a (prototype?) mini-stage of the one they ended up using at Knebworth?

By reading everyone's insights on this posts, especially on touring behind the new re-releases of Exile combined with how those reissues were not nearly successful from a financial standpoint, my best guess is that the one hope all of us have of seeing a Stones/MT-reunion would be a final farewell tour just for us fans...no big stadiums, no Vegas-style theatrics, no greatest hits set-lists,

QuoteLadykiller Mick Taylor is for me the most talented musican, who ever played in "The Rolling Stones". He plays also better guitar as Keith & Ronnie together. Defenitly agree as being most talented guitarist who ever played in the Rolling Stones. If you mean "most talented musician" by going by the definition of a muscian being able to have a high degree of musical
