Wow!! What a thread! Especially great to see those track sheets (or what they´re called); they seem to confirm a lot of the bootleg titles, and also the recording date/year (1969-1970) of some "Exile" songs. Thanks to all involved!

Yeah, it´s definitely the best of the four new tracks on "Forty Licks"! For all you Swedes here: Strange how it sounds like Stefan Sundström though... (Could of course be that he is inspired by Mick Jagger!)

Apart from the horrible front cover, the main problem is the 80´s production with the thin/metallic kind of sound - especially on the drums. Many of the songs could of course have been better too... (That, though, is true of all Stones albums since Undercover - and some before!) However, listening to it these days, it´s not as bad as I thought back then. The tracks I like now are: One Hit Fi

According to Hot Wacks it´s a reject version of "Welcome To New York". I suppose that makes it very rare.

QuoteHis Majesty Yup he played organ on THSMLI. I'm not aware of him playing any instruments live other than, guitar, electric dulcimer, organ, harmonica and recorder. There are pics of him playing tambourine. I think Brian played tambourine (as well as guitar/harmonica and singing!) on that great 1964 NME Poll Show!! Didn´t he ever play sitar on Paint It Black live?

I remember thinking that the 1982 European Tour would probably be the last chance to see the Stones, as they were getting old...

This album is for me the best they´ve done after "Tattoo You". Also, the 1990 concert in Gothenburg was probably the best in Sweden - maybe apart from Stockholm 1995. (I didn´t see any before 1982..., but those in 1982 weren´t very good)

There´s also the 2-CD anthology "The Dust Blows Forward" that covers his whole (musical) career 1966-1982. It´s very good, and you can decide which period you like most!

I agree with vudicus on the Captain´s music. His first album "Safe As Milk" (1967) is also a good starting point - it´s bluesy and great!

Thanks all for your efforts! There´s another Stones Mojo Special Edition - 40th Anniversary Collectors´s Edition from 2003; but it´s not in there either. I now think it´s a regular Mojo issue that doesn´t mention Stones on the cover. Hope it´s not just my imagination...

QuoteCousinC I've been collecting mags with Stones content as well. I remember both mentioned mags but I can't think of that newer bootleglist at the moment. Was it a big article and like how many boots were on that list? Just a few or an extensive list? My memory isn´t that good about this... I think it was about five/six pages with maybe 8-12 bootlegs (with pictures), possibly

Thanks a lot Eric! I think it came a couple of years later than that though, and as I remember it, it was an article about bootlegs - not shows. In the meantime I´ll re-read issue 238!!

Yeah, that´s a great issue with lots of Stones content! However, it´s not what I´m searching for... It´s a bit newer and has the titles of the bootlegs - some of which I didn´t recognize, even though I kept up with what was released until the end of the nineties.

QuoteErik_Snow Think it was the Mojo magazine "special issue" that was dedicated to Rolling Stones only - the "best bootlegs" were the standard well-known SBD recordings...Brussels 73, Leeds 71, Atlantic City 89, Philadelphia 72, Hampton 81 etc. No surprises IOW Thanks, but it´s not the Mojo Stones special "Classic Rare & Unseen" (Volume 1 Issue 12). I´m pret

Some years ago one of these magazines had an article about the best Stones bootlegs. Does anyone one know which magazine - year/number? I believe I have it, but can´t find it... Also, any comments about what the article says?

The rumour about Muddy Waters is just that... Bill has confirmed that Muddy didn´t play on the Chess recordings in 1964. The short 2120 SMA is the same as the long, just faded early!

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 I always thought the line up here was Keith on guitar, Brian on harp, and Jagger on maracas. That there was only one guitar. Then the other day I was listening to a alternate version of the cut, and during the first part I was already thinking to myself that it did not sound much like Brian's early harmonica style. Early on Brian was way more adventurous and cle

Quotescottkeef rootsman, I think it would be a very good comprehensive collection. I like the way you have it sequenced-it reminds me of the way it would be if Purple Chick had attempted a Stones collection! Alot of their Beatles albums are set up like this-I would certainly want to d/l or trade(?) for a copy if you decide to attempt it. Any ideas on artwork and/or track info design? Thanks! I
