QuoteAddicted In a way though, Jagger's lack of involvement may have been the key to Exile's success (and probably explains his oft-voiced dislike of the record). That is really stupid, isn´t it? There is no lack of involvement by Mick, and their records are not more successfull the less Mick is involved, and he never said that he dislikes the record.

Quotecrumbling_mice I read that it was actually Mick writing about Keith, and supposedly, at the very start of the song you can hear some faint snoring, legend has it that this is indeed Mr Richards at rest...it's there, I've heard it. I can´t imagine Mick writing "may the good lord shine a light on you" for Keith. I also don´t think that "Worried about you" is ab

I always find it irritating that the chorus continues with the "daddy". For the woman and the friends it should be "baby", maybe. And not "daddy". If this was changed it would be a great song.

Quotemickschix Now that was a great interview! He was not saying " MAN" and " DUDE" every other word, he was clear-eyed, and everything made perfect sense...except when he said he loved the Beggar's Banquet cover.." the one with the cake" we all KNOW he meant Let It Bleed!! I laughed! You can see that Jimmy Fallon absolutely adores him! It was a great segment!

Quoteswiss Anyone know any stories about the writing/recording of Angie, beyond: (1) Mick/Keith attempted to mix it b/c Jimmy Miller too fvcked up; and (2) the usual Keith tales that it was written about Dandelion/Angie his daughter but Mick wrote most of it I don´t know when that story began that it is for/about Keith´s daughter. In an interview in the early 70ies Keith said he doesn´t kno

Keith: Yes, I've heard this (laughter). You know how many times I've heard this? Look--lead vocalists' voices are never loud enough (laughter). And that's why you should never let them mix albums. Yeah. - swiss But Mick did mix the album, didn´t he? So he is responsible for the vocal mix.

if he had a problem with her hight he would not go out with her. Mick is certainly aware of these comments about his shoes, and that is the evidence that he does not care what people think about him.

I am surprised that Keith considered to do something solo with Gram, at a time, when the Stones fought for their survival. That could have meant the end for them. The situation was completely different than in the 80ies when Mick went solo. That was no danger for the band, until Keith decided to start WW III. Am I the only one who dislikes Keith´s Mick bashing?

This article is one big cliche, that it is Keith´s album and all that. The recent GQ interviews are more informative mainly because Keith didn´t repeat his old platitudes. But this article does.

QuoteSwayStones I don't totally agree with you ,KeithNacho. IMO, Jagger in 1976 looked mostly "on his way" ,cool, high & surely on dope .But "cool" you know ... It was even more obvious on this video (just take a look at his eyes ): I am not even really sure how dope or booze could be heard in his speech /the way he spoke .I would be glad if any native En

Quotestewedandkeefed I think Torn And Frayed is underappreciated - I realize it's on Exile and therefore has been widely heard but I've never really heard anyone talk about what a major song it is. First of all, the Mick/Keith relationship is the most fascinating relationship within the Stones and we have a country-ish song that is clearly a Keith type song but the lyric is Mick describ

Did he really ever publicly deny, that she is his daughter? Why else did he have contact to her if he denied that he was her father? And why would he give Marsha 150 000 dollar in the early 70ies, if he thaught that he was not her father?

QuoteDoxa but still each of those solo albums show that Mick nor Keith will not get to the artistic heights alone they can do together (if both of them would really co-work and be as inspired as they are in their solo works). - Doxa I don´t know. It is often said that they learned from their solo works that they need each other. I don´t think that they NEED each other, because they have

QuoteBliss I have to agree that Mick treated Jerry abominably. Highlights include his 8 year affair with Carla Bruni, whom he joined in Thailand just hours after his child was born, and the terrible way he denied he and Jerry were married, so she got a relatively tiny settlement, due to a legal technicality. But what goes around comes around. He was married to Bianca when he got involved with

sorry, jamesfdouglas, i would like to say just one word to that that´e what i am talking about: She´s the boss went platinum, was more successfull than Talk is cheap, but gets called solid, moderate, while Keith´s position 99 gets celebrated as a huge success. As for the reviews, Mick got even good reviews for Goddess in the doorway. I would go to see Mick, I have never seen him so

Quotebehroez But i agree with you that playing Keith compositions without him is a blasphemy, so new songs and new renditions of songs covered by the Stones before would settle that. . Why would that be blasphemy? No one will ever be allowed to play a Keith song? And is Keith allowed to play and sing a song composed by Mick?

QuoteJames Kirk Richards was percieved was being the one who was trying to keep the Stones together and vital while Jagger was seen as trying to compete with George Michael and Madonna. Richards came across as being far more authentic in the public eye and album sales and critical reviews prove this out. It must have killed Jagger that "Talk is Cheap" outsold and got better reviews

QuoteAddicted When Lennon reconciled with Ono she aired her disapprovement with his partying - and hanging out with - Jagger in particular. She was quite into monogamy. And that was not Jagger's strongest side, at the time. He was infamous for his many affairs - despite being married. So Ono stopped Lennon from seing Jagger. Apparently she was OK with him and Keith being friends, because

Quotebehroez No he only has an incredible selective memory, for example Keith always says that they didn't tour from 1966 to 1969, his words have become so authorative that even in the booklet accompanying the Anniversary Get Yer it has been written that the Stones hadn't toured between 1966 and 1969, which is a seriouos mistake that should not be expected in a booklet included in a b

I think it was 2 years ago when Yoko did her exhibition with the clothes that still had John´s blood on it. She was asked how it was to live with John, I guess, I don´t remember the question, i only remember the answer, and that was: we used to spend a lot of time with our friends like Mick and Bianca (and another couple). So much to their relationship.

Quoteswiss I don't find Mick intriguing as a person, or as an "intellect" (he seems to be a superficial thinker, speaks in generalities, and seems to be at his best when intuiting what's happening in the zeitgeist and reflecting it back impressionistically ). quote] then how come that everybody who knows Mick personally says that he is very intelligent?

Ok, I disagree Because I don´t think that the gaps between classes is that big anymore, and the mixing of classes in both directions is very usual nowadays. Different people meet at parties, rich and not rich, aristocrats and non aristocrats, I don´t think that this mixing in an open society is a social "climbing" by the not rich/aristcratic ones. Where did Mick climb to, everything w

I think it has always to do with personal taste which voice you like. A voice has to touch your soul somehow, it does not need to be a "good" voice. I have never been a fan of Keith´s singing, for example, his voice never touched me, and that does not mean i have bad taste.

QuoteGazza You can climb socially through your work, your wealth and through the people you meet. All three can easily be connected I hardly think Mick would have been good friends with Princess Margaret had he ended up in a 9 to 5 job commuting from Dartford to London five days a week. But that means that everybody who gets rich and surrounds himself (sometimes) with other rich and famous

I think it was just fun for Mick to get it, considering the funny quote from the 70ies: "I wood take a knighthood, nothing less than a knighthood." Mick always gets called a social climber, I never understood that. Where did he climb to? A social climber is somebody who achieves something only through somebody else, through marriage for example, without own work. But that´s not true
