What a good interview. Maybe that changes some opinions about Mick/Keith here.

QuoteRocky Dijon I would also say that Mick Jagger replaced Keith as musical leader in the studio. I think in the studio Mick and Keith were always both "musical leaders". Mick on the songs that he wrote and Keith on his songs. And when they cooperated, than both had to nod it through.

what exactly is a "musical leader" for the Rolling Stones?

Quoteskipstone Keith, if anyone, had the most success overall. As in, as an artist, as a performer, as a loved musician and I bet as a person. In peoples minds it seems so, yes. But would it be so without Keith´s 25 year career of Mick-bashing? He, his people and his fanbase deliberately started a round of Mick-bashing with the intention of rewriting history, by making Mick a sideman

Quotelem motlow . . . . 5.if you listen to any of his solo stuff he goes out of his way not to sound stonesy, its obviously a side project.the only one that comes close is wandering spirit and thats the most popular one.if you dont think he could have put a band of young rockers behind him and played that style on record or live that would have cut the steel wheels era stones to ribbons you&#

but don´t forget, that Jagger comes up with riffs, chorus etc. the same. I think Keith sometimes is a bit too quick with his "I wrote that song" when he maybe had the idea for the title or the chorus or the riff, or even the backing track, because it is no song without a melody and/or lyrics (of course, he also write melodies and lyrics...). Doxa, I thought, it is one of the myths that

Mick wrote the lyrics for Gimme Shelter. I never heard that he wrote the lyrics for Let it loose? What interests me more is if Keith really wrote all the lyrics to the songs that he sings. I don´t think that this is necessarily the case.

QuoteTrulyMicks Yes, I agree. I may have misquoted you on the other post. Pardon me if so. But yes, I don't think he needs to have drug buddies around, which is a good thing. People shouldn't confuse close relationships with drug/drinking relationships. I'm not saying Keith doesn't have close relationships with these people, but I don't think Mick needs to spend as muc

Quotebustedtrousers However, based on what I have read, he does have a tendency to run hot and cold with most of them, and the calculated and self-serving way in which he APPEARS to do it is what I was trying to explain. There are many moments in Stanley's True Adventures for example, where Mick seems to treat him as an equal, only to give him the cold shoulder at other times, like he couldn

Quoteswiss Quotebustedtrousers As far as Mick's attitude toward Stanley goes, I think that's just Mick. He seems to be that way in every book I've read. Warm and friendly one minute, cold and aloof the next. I got the same impression from Tony Sanchez's and Bill German's books too. And Robert Greenfield's Season in Hell. I think Mick grabs onto whoever he thinks he c

QuoteLady Jayne Personally, I think there is something slightly tacky about writing your autobiography in the first place. I know folk like the easy money and pontificate that it allows them control over the story but if you're really rock and roll why justify yourself in writing and sell your private life? It also kind of suggests an over inflated sense of self importance. Frankly, I'

QuoteTrulyMicks I became so confused reading this. Mick is dull and boring????? He's one of the most interesting and colorful men on the planet. exactly. "surprisingly normal" is always meant as a compliment, in the meaning of "no star behavior, with both feet on the ground". Everbody who knows Mick, and I don´t talk about those who talk with him for 15 min and th

Quotekleermaker QuoteAmsterdamned Quoteelunsi QuoteAmsterdamned Taylor/ Jagger? Jagger No Taylor involved?? Jagger isn't able to make such a relatively complicated composition on his own. Of course, Taylor is involved, but not in songwriting. He played very fine over Mick´s melody. And of course, Mick is able to make such a composition on his own.

I remember vaguely that I saw something about ABB on youtube. It was part of a series that was shown on television, it was called something like "Great moments in Rock history". They showed how Mick recorded "Laugh, I nearly died" in France, and they talked about this album. Maybe it is that what you mean?

All, or nearly all Stones-songs are jaggerised, because he sings them, or he wrote them or he co-wrote them.

QuoteGazza Keith's solo career wasnt exactly expected to be a big success. So, on those terms he did more than OK, especially considering he only reluctantly signed a solo deal to begin with. Mick's was expected to be massive. As evidenced by the fact that a precondition of the Stones world record breaking $35 million deal with CBS was that at least one of the 4 albums would be

QuoteJJFlash2010 Mick's big ego has had a lot to do with both his successes and failures. When he's with the Stones he has the benefits of writing with Keith, and he's able to throw ideas off of everybody, it's a shared creative process. When Mick's been left to his own devices, sure, we've gotten some stuff like Primitive Cool. For whatever reasons--only known to Mi

to me this is much more about a woman than a man. Maybe also "inspired" by Brian´s death. But I don´t think it is about somebody specific. There were certainly a lot of people with a similar fate around them, so it is maybe a combined story/phantasy about all of them. If it was about Keith it would be too kitschy, so I don´t think it was.

QuoteAddicted Hey! That's a clip from a review I posted, and NOT my opinion. I really felt it necessary to prevent a huge misunderstanding here. Rob Mitchum of Pitchfork wrote that review. I only posted it because he gave the album a 10 out of 10. In other words: THAT QUOTE IS NOT MINE! Although I've always meant that EOMS is much more a Keith Richards album than my other Stones fa
