Its a real shame he abused the fcuk out of it. Those are beautiful cars but not something you want some irresponsible kid driving like a hot rod. My friend has a decrepit one like it sitting in his barn. Then there was the E type he and Bobby Keys thrashed in France. He really should learn to respect beautiful things a bit more. I would give my eye teeth for either of them and cherish them

All those big bad bikers will bring it home to their 90 year old grannies when they are comparing tattoos or whatever they do, and then they will die, not the big bad biker boys. But as far as the bikers, not a big loss really, most are pretty far down the evolutionary chain, so a bunch dropping off the coil will benefit the entire gene pool, really. All people bring pleasure: some by arri

I hate to rain on anyone's illusions about the GD, but the reason I heard Vince Welnick was ostracized was because he attempted to commit suicide in the tour bus before a performance. The GD were never really known to be all that "kind" despite the hype, and they never forgave him for that and hardly lifted a finger to get him help that day/night...I heard no one would even drive h

I preferred Wha'ppen for it more roots reggae sound but their first really had the snapping dance tracks on it. I remember walking into a record store when it first came out and hearing them blast it on the system. I was like, what the heck is this, I gotta get a copy. Plus I think I grabbed a couple 12" remix/extended versions and a Stand Down Margaret 7". From then on for a coupl

that was by far their weakest album and they had pretty much lost it by then. Try Wha'ppen or Just Can't Stop It or any of the many 12" released during that period. But Special Beat Service...eh, not so much. My point, again, is that their remixes were often better (to my ears) than the LP or 7" versions. Of course, maybe you just had to be there. jb

Certainly London 67 - 69. Absolutely. Medical heroin and cocaine was prescribed with regularity. Read Ginger Bakers book just for one instance of actually admitting what they were doing in those days. It wasnt cops "handing out crack and heroin in the streets"; if that was going on it was not what I was referring to. So, I am confused about your point. The arrests were for cannabis r

Oh OK, I see what you mean. Yeah sounds like maybe you waited too long for the swap offer. I think I would just trust Amazon unless you are in a shop and can check the actual matrix numbers then. jb

I respected JG and the GD in general quite a bit, more for what they tried to do than for what they actually did, but for me Pigpen and his organ playing is what made them what they were during their best period. More or less a local band so could go see them most any weekend during those times, before they really broke big and kind of musically went down hill a lot in my mind. I remember running

Wait, Paint It Black? To each their own but I can hardly believe that. I must be misunderstanding. Next thing you know someone will offer Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In the Shadows? I mean I can understand anything post 1978, but (all day I been walkin cause I couldn't get my car started...Wish somebody'd come along and wreck it.) come on. jb

Do you mean to contact the record company and tell them the disks are defective because the channels are supposedly switched (meaning, I guess, that Keith is on the left and Ronnie on the right?), and you want a replacement with it the opposite? But along the way the record company did actually acknowledge that they messed up and remastered it correctly? Or was it just issued again and strange

Always cracked me up: they are handing out heroin and cocaine like candy at the neighborhood chemist shop and yet they are arresting people for a little weed. People like this don't deserve the fame or money...in the USA any proceeds from a crime are supposed to be forfeited including money made on the sale of books etc. Is it that way where this book is being published? Just curious

Actually I would have to take exception to that, Leonid. I specifically recall remixes from the 80s ((English) Beat to name one group consistently putting out fireball remixes on 12" single) being particularly worthy. But don't believe I have ever heard one from outsiders that improved a Rolling Stones song. jb

>It is almost universally known fact that Gram Parsons >was great, had a big influence on many musicians, >including The Rolling Stones, and would have gone on >to be one of all time big country music stars. If he had not killed himself by ODing on shit he shouldn't have been messing with. But he did, and it was a waste of talent, but it was the fate of a lot of kids o

The thing about that supposed Jagger quote telling Parsons to go back to his band, was, I think, meant to be more like "Go back home to mommy, there is no room here for a trust fund dilettante like yourself". The thing is, the guy did have a little talent, it was obvious, but he lacked commitment and he was totally sidetracked by drugs and probably suffering from poor little rich boy sy

Thank you Georgie, will keep that in mind. Didn't Elvis Costello sing something about double Dutch with a real double Dutchess? What the heck was that about? PS: man Altamont didn't have anything on that concert in 64. jb

He used the double quote (") instead of the single (') because of course the one with the most marks is the larger one, eg: foot vs inch. That chick looks like Ron Wood on a bad makeup day. Or at least it makes me think some of the faces on the Some Girls sleeve that are attributed to Wood might actually be Angelica Houston. jb
