I have the book (as presumably many here do) but haven't heard of the 8-LP-box before. Was the box released around the time the book was released?

The jazzy ballads started with All About You on ER, I'd say.

A new album would be very welcome (as always). Anyone know if he spent time in a recording studio in the past two or three years?

First Hairball a few months back, now Gazza ... so sad ... It's people like them who are the spirit and soul of IORR. edit: Ooops, sorry, wrong thread. So for this post not to be totally out of tune, also Hairball's website mentioned earlier is no longer up but (these days, disappearing from the internet being an additional sign of you being gone) some of his art can still be seen h

Hope this isn't old news. Ronnie has a new live album out (from 1992, Slide On Live band), but so far only on streaming platforms, it seems: Live At Electric Ladyland

Something seems to have gone wrong here: Jake Weber's father, Tony Sanchez, was a close associate of the Rolling Stones and worked as their drug dealer and general helper. Jake Weber's experiences at Villa Nellcote were detailed in his memoir, "Up and Down with the Rolling Stones: My Rollercoaster Ride with Keith Richards" According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipe

If I remember this correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong), the TY version of Slave was built from two takes of the song, originally recorded in the Black and Blue sessions. A real shame they never played it live. 1989/1990 would also have been a good time, considering the sound, spirit and playing abilities of the band at that time.

Wasn't there also a HD making of documentary announced when the album first came out? Can't recall any talk about it lately. Mabe the docu will be the next step in the HD promo campaign? Although such a docu is rather for te hardcore fan base. They could sell it in a package together with the album and thus generate also a few more album sales (i.e. sell the album again to people who al

Judging from the past decades there is a better chance in Europe to get more than just two new songs. Maybe one will have to wait for a potential European leg of the tour for more of the new songs. But who knows.

I would prefer a more naturally-sounding production. But I guess this is a business decision, not an artistic one.

Quotematxil I am happy about Keith's version of Waiting For The Man, though. Maybe it's time for another solo-album? Judging from what one hears, they are already (or still) working on the next Stones album, then there's the upcoming tour(s). I don't see much of a time window for Keith to seriously work on another solo album in anytime soon. Also, I wonder if he has so ma

Quoteshadooby Nope don’t smoke. Two separate copies skipping or hanging at exact same spot on 3 different cd decks and 1 pc can rule that out. It’s a manufacturing defect. Sounds like 2000s style copy protection.

I never bought any of these CDs back in the 80s because they were so hissy. The 1994 Virgins were a revelation when they came out, and they still do fine for me. The 2009/2010 versions I don't like (like most other people, it seems). There appear to be a number of Japan versions but I don't know any of them so no judgement here.

QuoteDoxa But the 1989/90 was exceptional in that sense, and by VOODOO LOUNGE tour he had much forgotten his guitar hero tendencies. True! In 1990 they had overall great sound and everybody was really playing well, also Mick sang much better (comparing the 1982 and 1990 shows that I saw). In 1995 the overall sound of the show was worse, and the deterioration in Keith's playing had already

QuoteWorriedAboutYou Will this be the best album since Hackney Diamonds? Yeah, any new album will be the best since the last one. More seriously now, a new album together with (or before) a potential Fall tour wouldn't seem totally unrealistic to me. Might also freshen up the set lists a bit.

For me a major difference between Still Life and Flashpoint was that Still Life came out shortly before the Show in my town, got quite some airplay, and thus gave you a preview of what to expect. Flashpoint came a year after Urbal Jungle, and at least over here without any promotion at all (I remember that I just saw it by accident in a record store one day). So what one expects in that case is r

Quotestevecardi ... and the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour(s) are among my all-time favorite Stones performances. Same here, their musical performance was absolutely top on those tours. Yet I can't really warm to Flashpoint. The production is a bit sterile, doesn't really sound like a live album to me. Also the choice of songs is not optimal IMHO, 2000 Light Years, Gimme Shelter, Terr
