In the studio version it lifts up the song into another, orgastic level, everybody screaming their lungs out, but live they don't even seem to try that and the whole song sort of falls apart. Naturally Mick doesn't want to sacrify his voice there, and takes it easy

QuoteMadMetaphoricalMax Good enough piece, but I can't get along with the subheading 'He helped shape classic songs by the Rolling Stones, the Who and the Beatles but his influence on music has been largely ignored. A new documentary aims to correct that.' It's not been 'largely ignored' at all, he has long been celebrated in many articles and interviews, and in t

From memory, it seems Waiting on a Friend has a stereo chorus on the electric guitar. Probably reverb/delay as well. Not a huge fan of Neighbors haha

QuoteGasLightStreet The groove of 100 Years Old is absolutely fantastic yet it's not really anything any different than She's A Rainbow or Shine A Light - that sort of dumpy thump that Charlie was excellent at. The vibrancy of the instrumentation, as well as the entire album, including Through The Lonely Nights and Criss Cross, is something that hadn't been done before and woul

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteTravelinMan Right. The solo which confused me the most was Fast Talking Slow Walking. Sounds like aspects of both of them, but I've settled on KR. How about you? Definitely Keith. There are a couple of runs in there, as well as some «playing with the chord changes», but it sounds like Keith, imo. There is one note in particular with some heavy vibrato, but it

Killer groove on this. You can hear how the maracas add so much. When I first heard the drums isolated I was like "is that Jimmy Miller?!?" They sound so crisp. I've often thought they were the best drums sonically speaking on the album. Also, listen at 10:01 and tell me that isn't Mick Taylor; maybe from a different track that's been mixed out. It even overlaps th

They turned a minor into major. Interesting twist. I don’t believe there is a minor chord in Gimme Shelter. I believe the borrowed chords give it an illusion of minor It's key is C sharp minor.

Quotestoneskid Does anyone konw when this was released? Who leaked it? Is there a lossless version of this floating around? Retired Dog said more tape exists and this is only a fraction of it. I believe he said somebody from the studio has the tapes and let go of part of it for whatever reason. Not sure about your other questions.

Really cool to hear these older songs like Prodigal Son and Play with Fire (which I used to cover myself) Jagger sounds great I like this version of Gimme Shelter more than the Wood/Preston era. They could never top 1972 so hearing Richards take the lead again makes so much sense to me.
