Of course, we all mostly know the Nazareth version, not really necessary to post it. And Nazareth probably truly do make it their song...I didn't know this song was originally recorded way back.

Did I see a youtube video with Johnny Winter, Stephen Stills and Jimi Hendrix, it was really good. These recordings I don't know much about. And I don't know if they are always authentic.

OT: Eric Gales - Little Wing - Guitarists will enjoy

Check out this cool intrepretation of the Jimi Hendrix tune Little Wing.

I just discovered this guy Eric Gales and love the way he mixes up Jazz chording with more traditional rock stuff. My guess is that we will be hearing alot more from this dude in the near future. In any case, it's always fun to watch someone who plays the guitar upside down rip it up.

He joins my list of relatively new inspirational guitarists which include Monte Montgomery,Joe Bonamassa and Derek Trucks. peace

Thanks for the post. Great guitar work. To this day, it is amazing to hear how Jimi Hendrix's guitar playing and musical/vocal stylings still influence players of all genres. Here's another hit or two of Hendrix music in other artists hands. Enjoy.

Great jazzy version! thumbs up

Always nice to hear Hendrix tunes coming from different players.

Mc'Laughlin does it in his own modest but unmistakable way. Some disgus the next version, I love it.

My favourite live version of JJF if you exclude 1972 and 1973. WHy? Because of Keiths and Ronnies duet. Fan-freakin-tastic. They really reach out (even laughing) during Mick's attempt inside that ridiolous cage. I love the r e a l theatrics of 1975 and 1976 but Mick really lost it in 1981.

Mick Taylor in Madrid, 1992 (videos)

I thought some of the Taylorites here might appreciate this clip of him playing with a Spanish blues band in the early 1990s. Skip to 8.30, where they start playing Crossroads. The band are so-so, in my opinion, and some of the camerawork is annoying, but Taylor's soloing is fantastic:

I think this is one bad-ass commercial. The Dog deserves an Emmy Award. I'm not sure if it's a Pointer or not.

Example of a Gimme Shelter I like...
Posted by: fahthree ()
Date: June 15, 2014 03:12

As I stood in the Waldbühne, listening to another atrocious Gimme Shelter, I really began to wonder what I don't like about Lisa's performance on the song. The guitars were fine, particularly Ronnie. I don't really mind the antics. That's irrelevant to me. She screams it now, and frankly not very well. The last time I liked her performance on it was the start of Licks. This one, from St. Louis 1997 during Babylon, she doesn't scream it and it's good.

For what it's worth, I liked her on Waiting On A Friend even though she was late.

For those about to jump down my throat remember this is an opinion. Not a statement of fact.

if you really want to hear her scream listen to the one from the last US stop in DC....it was horrible......I thought the last listenable one was the first show in newark.......nothing will ever top those 1995 versions though....she was great then

I don't think there's any reason to criticize Lisa. The vocal calesthenics, the broad smiles, the sexy interplay with Mick - to me, they all detract from the intensity of the song. But, my gut tells me it's not her fault. The audience, most of whom don't give a second's thought to the lyrics, just laps it up, and I'm sure Mick notices this, and likes it. Lisa is a "professional backing vocalist"; a hired gun that I think delivers exactly what she's asked to deliver. If Mick wants to treat the "rape, murder" lines as crowd singalongs, even if Lisa felt differently, I suspect she wouldn't even voice her opinion.

A definite contender for most cringe worthy music video of all time, it's even more goofy without the music. Very funny
