Re: George Thorogood Talks About Charlie Watts

George is playing tonight in my hometown of Rochester, NY at the Rochester International Jazz Festival for free! I am very proud that our upstate New York city has been hosting this event for over 10 years now and it has been growing by leaps and bounds and attracting great talent to this festival. I feel fortunate to have caught great acts like Dave Brubeck, Diana Krall, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock over the years.

I couldn't arrange this due to prior commitments that I had, but Buddy Guy was the headliner two nights ago at the Jazz Fest and from friends of mine that went to the show, he put on a very memorable performance.

Hey Sighunt....

Driving from Buffalo to Rochester shortly to catch the last night of the festival...Thorogood and Soul Live among others.

Always love the festival. Just an open appreciation of music from the people in Rochester...everything from a school jazz band to national and international touring acts.

OK, it's either hillarious or pathetic, probably opinions will be divided quite evenly.

Stupid

yep they were at it hot and heavy in the video and beyond. Jagger was jealous of Bowei's solo success which means more money. Earnings undiluted by the other Stones. This was one reason Mick went solo. He was in competition with David.
The two socialized a lot back then

Saw Van Morrison several times at the Troubadour in LA.
Wonderful singer..I cherish those albums from the early 70's.

Sound isn't too great but for the period maybe it's accurate.

Silver Train!

I guess I'm a little late to the party, I just realized now that they played Silver train at the Tokyo show. I'm not going to give it a note by note critique but from the you tube clip, sounds like they pulled it off. What really impressed me was how much of the feeling of the original version was captured. Haven't listened to GHS in a while and I was reminded of how much I like that album. They should have played Silver Train more. Who cares if half the crowd doesn't know this song, how could you not like it in a live setting? It rocks.

Mick's recall of this song is correct "We played it live a couple of times in the 70's and that's about it".. Actually yes that's accurate.

sounds like they pulled it off.

Jagger would disagree. Obviously he's not confortable with the song (listen to the afternoon rehearsal : MJ needs Chuck to tell him where the song goes...).

Anyway it wasn't played in Europe and I doubt it'll be given another chance.

Mick needs to sing this song with a more agressive voice like in the original version.
