It was at the Carrier Dome, a place more suited to sporting events, so perhaps I didn't miss anything after all, as they had no video monitors above the stage for those seated miles away in the rafters.

There was a video screen above the stage. It was used for the indoor stadium shows.

Still remember a close-up shot of Keith's raggedy boot keeping time during 'Just My Imagination'. :-)

The lead singer reminds me of Freddie Starr doing his Mick impersonation!

What a drag it is gettin' old

LOL, I guess everyone looks ridiculous doing their Jagger impersonation. Everyone. But this guy...for starters he is just too , uh round. He reminds of of Billy Squier in that awful video of his.

+1

And finding a good Wyman wig is the toughest challenge of all for Stones tribute bands. It's not like they've available in stores, off the rack grinning smiley

that was a trifle cringe worthy.

Nothing quite so bad as a band acting all cool with swagger and not delivering the goods.

The singers accent is a bit over the top, to say the least...
Why do grown ups dress up like the stones and try to act like them? It always looks pathetic to me. Do people on this board like bands like this?

The other night at my local bar the band played Brown Sugar, JJF and Honky Tonk Woman and they killed it. Everybody was dancing and singing along. No visual impersonating just playing really well and everybody loved it!

Cheers,
Wuudy

Because there is a market for it, and it pays well. In Australia, for example, there is a huge following for tribute bands of various genres.

It's a combination of the fact that bands like the Stones don't tour Australia very often, and when they do the tickets are $500 or more, so the tribute band scene keeps the fires burning in between those tours and for people who can't afford that sort of money for a concert. For these audiences, who are mostly 35-70yo, it's nostalgic, a fun night out, and affordable. And drinks are at pub prices instead of stadium prices smileys with beer

There's a local Stones tribute called the Glimmer Twins that are actually really good musically as compared to the Stones. They attempt to capture the Taylor era and do a pretty darn good job. The Mick character seems a little over the top, but the Keith guy really has it down, the 5 string, the posing and even the earlys 70's Keith vocal.

These guys are pretty good too. The guy who plays the solo's plays them in his own style which makes it sound pretty cool. The singer has got the voice down pretty well. Miss You is in '78 style and Rambler 70's style. Heartbreaker is pretty cool as well, it start at 6.13. They do a little bit of Hot Stuff in the middle, 9.20, which is nicely done!

Cheers,
Wuudy

I've seen the Blushing Brides a few times in the early 80's. Yeah they are pretty darn good.

Have never understood this: the Bl. Brides are a very good band. They have personality. Why oh why would someone model their whole artistic persona on imitating someone else?
