Here's a link to the Firefly club's website if anyone's interested. VERY small club. It's not very often they book anyone famous, but Tim's a local boy. Went to school here at the University of Michigan.
Wish I was, but Chicago is a bit far away from the Netherlands. I can really advise anyone in the neighbourhood to go and see Tim. He really puts on a great show with his band. Saw him twice until now. Once in Berlin and once in Amsterdam. Both shows were great.
Quote little queenie harm - i'd rather be in the netherlands than here in chicago but such is life. they're playing the same venue as they did in '06 (martyr's).
We've seen them twice @ Martyr's in Chicago (2005 & 2006?) & both shows in London in August 2007. About a month ago, I saw that they're supposed to be playing December 28 @ Martyr's, but it's still not on Martyr's website (where tix for most of Martyr's shows are sold). Nonetheless, we definitely plan on being there!
And then the following week, Buddy Guy starts his month of 'January' shows @ Legends!! The winters may be cold & windy in Chicago, but we do have great music to keep us warm!
He does about 16.... Thursday through Sunday of each week. There is no comparison seeing Buddy anywhere else but Legends. Here's the schedule with opening acts (might persuade some of you to make a trip to Chicago!
Who is opening for Buddy? Thursday, January 8th: Ronnie Baker Brooks Friday, January 9th: Brother John Saturday, January 10th: NuBlu Band featuring Carlise Guy Sunday, January 11th: Big James & the Chicago Playboys Thursday, January 15th: Scott Holt Friday, January 16th: Larry McCray Saturday, January 17th Carlos Johnson Sunday, January 18th: Carl Weathersby Thursday, January 22nd: Billy Branch & the Sons of Blues Friday, January 23rd: NuBlu Band featuring Carlise Guy Saturday, January 24th: Cedric Burnside & Lightnin’ Malcolm Sunday, January 25th: Lurrie Bell Wednesday, January 28th: Nick Moss & the Flip Tops Thursday, January 29th: Jimmy Burns Friday, January 30th: John Primer Saturday, January 31st Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials
cool. i will buy a ticket for the first show and see if it carries over to the 2nd show. i've just learned that bernard will not be there though - i can't say i've ever seen them without him. he's such a highlight that i'm a little bummed.
tim says the 2nd set will start either 8:30 or 9pm so try to get there a bit earlier if possible!
the website for advanced tix is weird - there are two entries for that night but both state a 7pm start time. maybe if i clicked through on the 2nd, a later startime would show up on the order form eventually. i'm getting there at 5:30 or 6pm and expect to eat dinner there.
I also received 2 emails tonight.... one directly from Martyr's and one from the ticket agency. One states that the show has been postponed and one states that the show has been canceled. Hoping that they'll reschedule soon!
I called the Firefly today and they said it was still on. My wife and myself will be attending the Ann Arbor show. And we will be celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary(12-27-03).
