No I'm not. I know him, he has a big collection.
I got it from ebay and you can know if it's real by looking on the back the sticker of the framer. There are different kinds of frames, backgrounds and logos. It deppends on the time it was made.

One should be as careful with eBay listed Gold Records as with autographs. There are just far too many artist presented Record Awards out there and in reality it is pretty dam hard to get your hands on a real one. Be careful of newer formats with vintage albums they aren't usually done.

Matt, why do artists 'give' these away anyways? It seems like something they would want to keep. How many copies are made for each album/award?

Tim, The Voodoo Lounge Tour Souvenir is supposed to be Japanese concept album. Apparently Virgin Japan wanted to release it but were told to concentrate on selling the regular album. See the track list in the photo of the back below....

Who else is interested in Stones stuff except for stones fans?

Tim, they are album versions.

There are many cross overs with Stones collecting. The most obvious one is Andy Warhol Collectors which significantly pushes up the prices of Love You Live stuff. I have also traded Voodoo Lounge stuff with a VW collector of all things because they were the European tour sponsor.

Stonesblake. I think the honest answer is they typically don't give them away (I have only ever managed to get the obvious band member to give me one of his).

Charlie is supposed to have given several away to taxi drivers etc... having just been given them. In the early years there would have been some kind of ceremony / photo shoot at the record company but now they just turn up at the band members managers office. In other words modern ones will probably never even reach the band members hands.

There are many fakes out there and most are presented to Mick Jagger or Keith Richards as they are the most valuable. Ones presented to random record executives etc... just aren't as valuable for obvious reasons. The exception for me is one that I have that was presented to me :-)

Many people always ask about the Promotional Album. Here is a US (London) and UK (Decca) one next to each other (in the picture of the fronts is also an austrailian "collectors" issue). The UK one is at least 10 or 20 times harder to find than the US one (and I am UK based!). I therefore do not believe there are 200 of each. Either there are less UK or more US copies. JR - time for you to go into more details from a vinyl specialist (junkie) point of view.

Waw Matt, like I said before you have a fabulous collection.
Promotional Album (US & UK) have been always my target. For the time being I'm happy with my austrailian "collectors" issue.
