How about some stuff from Moscow 98.... (I also have a regular sized poster and a 6 part bill board poster for this show).

Here you can see a window card, untorn ticket and local laminate.

I would have had a couple of untorn tickets for that show, due to a couple of friends unable to attend at the last moment, but once inside the venue there wasn't any merchandise for sale and we wanted to buy a t-shirt. The only place you could get one was outside the stadium so we had to use our spare tickets to go out and come back in again!

Here's the Moscow Times.....

Just picked this one up...a reissue, likely early 70s, as denoted by the later matrices. But misspelled label, Honky Tonk WomAn. Havent received it yet. Will post a better pic when it arrives.

I do also have this particular re-issue, which is indeed not well known, but pops up from time to time at ebay.

Here is a sure fire real one. Note the matrix number at the bottom, and "Manufactured In Germany" at top. Both are machine stamped, and VERY difficult to duplicate.

Stefaan, pretty rare swiss club edition as JR wrote. Saw it last year in Utrecht for 1250 Euro, which was too much for me at that time. I own the record in nm condition but the cover is missing, so I am waiting for the unlikely moment to catch it sometimes .... or to get this record complete for less money

Andreas, I united a Promo Album LP without a jacket and a jacket without a LP but it took 8 years! There is hope :-)

Bought mine 15 years ago for nearly 2000 Euro at a Beatles exhibition

The rarest of them (Swiss ex libris editions) is maybe After Math + Out Of Time (with the Stones in front of the Hochstrahlbrunnen in Vienna) with the misprinted titles on the back (Stunid for Stupid and Snider for Spider).

Mine is pretty rotten as it was privately laminated decades ago and now the glue already started to chemically react with the sleeve. Would love to get a nicer one some day.

Matt, it's absolutely luck to have such a unification as you had. I just waited also many years for record #2 of the three record testpressing set "Essential RS" or "History of RS" and I had luck, last year I found this record at ebay and I placed a bid with "plenty of mileage" to ensure it will not go away....

Just got hold of Street Fighting Man 7" single. Decca 25 470
Seems to be a German release and has the same label (seite 1) on each side.
Has anybody come across this before ?

Thanks, Honestman, but only one is real. One is a bad copy, the other is a 600dpi scan a friend made for me before I got my NM copy.

Best,

Interesting label variation of their first US release. The beatzenith site says that these might have been made for distribution to the military, but some guy on the Hoffman forum who seems to really know his stuff tells me that it is simply a pressing from the Allentown, PA plant, where he speculates they used these older London labels for quite some time.

QUOTE: "Based on the label copy, this pressing would've come from Allentown Record Co. in Allentown, PA. Have you deigned to check the deadwax for any markings? This seems to be a case of one pressing plant using a different label design from what other pressing plants were using at the time. So the "selling to the military" may not be the factor for this difference.

As for the design itself, I'd date it as pre-1954, because certain of the fonts on this variation were used by Queens Litho at the time - and Queens Litho (originally Kaltman Press) did label copy for London in the U.S. from the late 1940's to the mid-1950's. (For instance, the "RECORDED IN EUROPE" and "made in u.s.a." lines were set in 6 point Intertype Futura Bold Condensed - which was replaced in 1955 with Linotype Trade Gothic Condensed with Bold Condensed.)"

Sure. Its' www.stevehoffman.tv. Go to "Forums". It's not a Stones site, but an audiophile site, where there are many Stones fans. Lots of interesting discussions on Stones' CDs, and the new remasters.

The thread where I asked the question can be found if you use the "search" function. Just search threads with "rolling stones" in the title.

Earliest incarnation I have found of this label is 1951.

[ronpenndorf.com]

Scroll down to "Open Eared" USA London FFRR. Seems wierd not to change a label for 13 years....

No pressing plant mentioned, but its as good of a hypothesis as any. Havent found many other records pressed with this label in the USA. Only rock records are USA, England's Newest Hitmakers, and NOW!.

Pretty strange, that both have different matrices styles than any other USA Stones "Open London" or "Boxed London" matrices.

Most of the other early US records have very standardized matrix styles, no matter what pressing it is, 1-A, 1-B, 1-C, etc.

The "Open Eared" FFRR pressings, are a source of mystery. All I know is, they are about the rarest of any USA pressings.

Here is a Swiss Club (German manufactured) 1st LP...pretty rare this one too.

Note same style of matrix markings as Best of the Beat, seen above. NONE of the recent fake / counterfeit copies have these.
