I think Mick overdid it on purpose. Whereas Keith did it because, well, why not? Mick looks ridiculous in a lot of those pictures - but the one thing it did/does is tell you about that era, that time, what was going on. So in that aspect, it's cool. But overall, I look at those pictures of Mick and think, How could anyone take you seriously as a singer? And those pajamas as some people here call them - they look silly but I bet they were comfortable - more comfortable than anything else Mick has ever worn - especially in the mid 1960s.

Funny that you mentioned this.........not because of the Stones but Bowie who inspired me to use some eye make up back then .......normally I wouldn't mention this but as most of you find it cool back then here you go.....

I thought Marc Bolan started all that with his appearance in the Born To Boogie film in '71.

And I don't care what Gene Simmons says, they saw that T.Rex film (Born To Boogie), saw Bolan with the white pancake makeup, then saw Alice Cooper with the eyeliner and that's where the KISS 'look' came from.

Mick, always cool! In '75 the eye liner was thicker than Winehouse's but still cool. He wouldn't wear it that way today.Keith, well, his always looked like he missed! I guess it was kind of sleazy because it was so smudged! I liked the look still. How can you say Mick looks queer but Keith looks cool?? Eye make-up on guys is usually categorized as gay no matter who wears it. Personally I don't care if guys like a bit of make up.If you can pull it off, more power to ya!

To rank eye liner as gay for the early 780s is make oneself guilty of

I think so too. I don't get why Keith wears black eyeliner now though. He would look much better without it.

imho, back then it was cool for both Mick and Keith, but now just look at those pictures when Keith was released from his brain surgery outside the hospital and he has plenty of make-up is frightening and his LV ad is also pretty bad...
