and 80s... hmm. not even born winking smiley I'm a young guy, can't even buy some good whiskey in my country and you talk about fighting for Tibet in 50s!

Thanks for posting... Oh god his hair!! Voice don't fit at all... Hmm, for all Jimmy fans:

Nice and solid riffing from Jimmy Page. One of those goose bumps moments for sure.

If Led Zeppelin would only hit the road with a full scale world tour asap.

Come on Robert Plant and make this dream come true!

Nice video, apart from the French commentators talking gossip during the solo, that is -.-

Always lots of fun to see Page handle his guitar, I adore his playing a lot and besides, I think the girl's voice fits nicely (Plant sounds "female" enough, so she didn't have a hard job) ;-)

That was good. And the girl in the shorts playing the violin was really hot.

Jimmy's message to Robert, reduced to its most basic, adolescent level, seems to be:

"My girl is red hot. Your girl ain't doodly-squat"

I'd take Alison Krauss over Leona Lewis any day!

What the f*** was the point of that? Not just Jimmy with the runway model but the Mr. Posh Spice thing and all that?

Where was the drummer?

And then y'all go off about other things political - so who is the one that is wrong and out of place here? You hypocrites!

I'm not sure what you expected in response to your comment that "China sucks" skipstone but it was unrealistic to expect no response to such an obviously inflammatory statement. I see no hypocrisy here either.

To Amused I say that there was nothing about "fighting for" Tibet from the '50s onward in what I wrote. Your interpretation seems skewed towards your own weltanschaunung. Rather, it had to do with directing ones energies where they can do the most good.

Now, regarding Mr Page and Miss Lewis, I'll wait until tonight to watch it and comment then. Ja ne.

London rocks!
With this start of the 30th Olympiad (the four years between two Olympic games), I have high hopes for the London Olympica. They can only top this by hiring the Stones for the opening ceremony. The best London band ever, they're celebrating 50 years as a band, and London is the pop and rock capital of the world. It's gotta be the Stones opening the London games!
Seb Coe, where are you???

Ha. What a load. What I say or think about China means NOTHING. So why the fuss?

Who is that chick stuck to that pole?

So...if that's their version of closing the Olympics I'm glad the Stones didn't, wouldn't and couldn't do it. Terrible.

I just wish Jimmy would keep his lip movements under control.

He's pulling faces like the old codgers when they take their false teeth out!

Skipstone, time to grow up.

The funniest thing to me is that the same authorities that banned some Stones songs for a regular private gig in an arena for considering them "dirty" and "unaproppiate", now hire Jimmy Page for playing one of R&R's most sexually explicit songs in a packed stadium, for one of the world's most massive events to be broadcasted globally...

Is that some sort of irony, cynicism or what?

And I didn't like the way L. Lewis sang the song.

C'mon, since they were at it, maybe the chinese autorities should have tempted the whole Led Zeppelin with a pile of dollars to get them to play at the ceremony.
Not an easy task, but that would have been a treat!

That comment is way our of line skipstone. Whatever you think of the Chinese goverment, its policies have nothing to do with the country (or its people)

"In line" would mean in terms of politics which surely should´nt be
discussed here a dogmatic order nobody really wants.

Therefore to get it kind of philosophically skipstone only follows a popular
if not to say polemic way-and this is absolutely ok-although of course he likes
to generalize or to be more precise : just a bit over the top(""country""that sucks)

No problem with that-not my opinion, but we can´t get deeper into that because
bv has good arguments to limit the discussion about that.

To the thread: I was prepared but disappointed as well about this poor perfomance,
if it has been Led Zeppelin maybe I would have liked it,but this ?Tsssssssss

Love it! Only us brits. Drag out an icon of london..... a big red bus!!

2012 opening ceremony will probably have a few Beefeaters, Chimney Sweeps in hob nail boots and some pearly Kings and Queens.

But Jimmy Rocks his arse of here.....
