A heads up to all you promo collectors out there!:

Here's a portion of the article:

"They can be recognised by markings such as "For promotional use only" or "Not for resale", visible on the record or CD artwork and sometimes on the disc label itself.

Record companies have long maintained that they continue to own these items and can ask for them back at any time."

"Although the outcome will apply only to US law, the case is being watched keenly in the UK, where record shop owners and eBay traders report similar treatment at the hands of music companies in the past."

There are ways around this....
For example, if you were "selling" a PROMO/NOT FOR RESALE disc....you might
package it with something else that you CAN actually sell....and include
the PROMO/NOT FOR RESALE item as "FREE". The potential buyers will
understand what is happening...and technically you aren't "selling"
the PROMO/NOT FOR RESALE disc.

I've seen this done with other items on eBay....

IORR............but I like it!

That's phenomenal. Saturday I'm going to a big annual CD market to find Stones promos. This Dutch dude will be there, who has a ton of that stuff (Last year I bought from him a promo mini cd single with Angie and Silvertrain on it). I'll probably spend 2 or 3000kr again this year.

Ain't nobody taking it away from me.

The Dutch dude had both. I bought the one with only Angie and Silvertrain. Hoping to get the one with Miss You come Saturday.

That's not bad - You can get in touch with the decision makers^^

you send 'em your mp3 and ask them if it was something they missed???
you'd better sound familiar - but they'll double check...

it might be good for you - but it certainly will keep them occupied .... hahaha

If they really wanted them back they wouldn't give them to radio stations who just throw that crap out most of the time. I have 4 Cult promo CDs from Sonic Temple and one is unique in a way because the edit of Sweet Soul Sister is what is in the video, not the single edition or comp version - it's unavailable on CD.

Don't think I have any Stones promos.

Anyone can claim they have a Promo of the Stones and send in some of their own home grown.
consider^^

I have a Highwire disc, edit and LP versions on it only. That would be the only promo I have of the Stones if it truly is one.

Is this for JumpingKentFlash or for me ?If it is for me , yes , this is new for me , never seen it before .

Sorry to bother you in the middle of your post with this shot. Yes the request was for you UrbanSteel and everybody also !!! I may create a new post anyway. As a french free lance publicist, I just received an advance copy of the DAVE STEWART Songbook 6-song sampler (to be released on august 5th on Surfdog Records) with a Songbook which contains some beautiful shots I never saw before, so I was just asking...

It was a great CD/LP fair this year. I bought these CDs:

Undercover (CBS label).
Like A Rolling Stone (Promo).
Out Of Focus (Single).
Like A Rolling Stone (Single).
Biggest Mistake (Papersleeve with the liquid tongue as the cover).
More Hot Rocks (1986 remaster - The guy selling it thought it was a triple CD. So when I opened it, when I came home, there was the two More Hot Rocks CDs and the first CD from Hot Rocks). grinning smiley
Sex Drive (Single).
Out Of Control (Japanese single).
Ruby Tuesday (Single).
Out Of Tears (Sealed single).
Visions Of Paradise (Single - But isn't it only out on promo)?
Sweet Thing (Single).
Angel In My Heart (Single).
Steel Wheels (CBS label - I found out I already had this).
Flashpoint (Sony label - Already had it, but had forgot).
The Expensive Winos Live At The Hollywood Palladium 1988 (Normal CD. Never had it on CD before).
Steel Wheels (Japanese CBS).
Show Me/Breathe On Me (Ronnie Wood single 1992).
The Final Bang DVD (Awesome artwork and such. I see myself in the "The Waiting" segment, and also you see my skeleton cloth going up on stage a few bars into the solo of Honky Tonk Women. It lands right in the middle of the b-stage).
A Stones puzzle game with the Sebastian Krüger Voodoo Lounge promo pic on it.
An original Keith Richards ticket from a concert in Köln (Cologne) 1992, the Main Offender Tour).
A sew-on tongue patch.

Great stuff. 18 new CDs and a new DVD. I can't fit it all in my CD closet anymore. grinning smiley

<<It was a great CD/LP fair this year>>

Sounds good. Think I'll consider going to next one in Aarhus in November, since the those here in Odense has been pretty dissapointing lately. Except a German guy selling a few reggae vinyls, it's mostly junk...

Same here in Horsens. The one we have at the beginning of February has gotten so small it's a joke. The only one in driving distance from Horsens worth going to, is the one in Århus in DGI Huset. That was the one yesterday, but I think it's only once per year. Must check Rytmeboxen.dk.

What porno discs are we talking about anyway?

That's the Highwire disc. CSK 73742 is it (with some other numbers below it). The inside sleeve looks like a cheap Xerox copy of the info! I got it because it has the count in but even part of that is cut off, it comes in on the 'un' of Mick saying One.

Post of the day! They can have my porno discs back, as long as they don't mind getting some "sticky fingers" in the process.

Oh I forgot I have the Love Is Strong promo with the Bob Clearmountain mix - which to me is much better than the LP version.

I would think the Rewind CD would be a hot item. That reminds me, I need to get the Virgin Made In The Shade before they pull their stock out of whatever stores are left.

Just curious, any of these record shows, has anyone checked out any of The Cult's records (in whatever form)? Just wondering. I found a couple of really cool things at a record fair once in or near Detroit or Lansing, MI.
