OT:Rod Stewart

Going to see Rod this saturday in Sundsvall Sweden, and I am a litte curious about what he might be playing, but the only setlists I could find is from 2007. Does anyone have a clue?

The tour is apparently billed as "Rod Stewart rocks his greatest hits" does "rocks" mean I won't be getting the songbook crap? Could I even hope for some Faces tunes?

Baboon are you going?

Yep, IP, or Norrporten Arena as it is now called or, for further confusion, at concerts such as Elton John and now Rod Stewart... Sundsvall Park Arena.

I will give you a detailed review...smiling smiley

I read that Rod has ruled it out. It was only a newspaper snippet though without a direct quote from rod, so who knows.

I love Rod Stewart's first four albums and his work with the Faces, but he lost me with Smiler. "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Man?" He should have heeded his true calling in life then and there and taken up work as a ragboy at a car wash in Scotland.

One of the greatest voices in history, some of the finest songwriting (and selecting - Dylan, Waits, Motown, etc.), with several career missteps for sure, but still a great live show. Don't miss him ..... and, yeah, there will be some babes at the show.

My [intro of] review,in itself..............................

Last nite. Saturday nite.
Got my freebies after all. Got the occasion to scratch my backs
against the local hot-shots.

I couldnt relate to the openin'song It's A heartache other than it's
a great voice type castin' lettin' Rod stick his teeth in it...
(but now I found its on his latest album, with covers...
Anyway, got the audience goin'. "Some Guys Have All The Luck" is more of a ephemeric experience.. Than came Sweet Lil Rock'n Roller and all of a sudden the
15,000-headed crowd (biggest ever on a single music event in Norrland
= the Northernmost 65% surface of Sweden, and the stage was the
biggest sofar up here .. Tim hardin's Reason To Believe was a kinda
extra-terrestrial moment, as well as Downtown Train.. Then came Father And Son,
the immortal Cat Stevens-song, with Rod openin' his family photo album for us.
He made this semi-huge event a personal thing.

[gonna add some more line here later]

The show lost tempo after the ten minutes break; more greasy & cheesy stuff
after that break... Have You Ever Seen The Rain (etcetcetc)

Theres still some good songs on Smiler(IMO) but after he broke from his Faces crew it did start to go downhill artistically. And I guess he has to do Hot Legs and Sexy just like the Stones have to do Miss You!

Kickin' out foortballs all the time, durin' three songs:

WEill fill in my review tomorrow, have to prepare Monday now.

That's not a terrible setlist at all.....And Mr. Baboon,if the boss you talk about coming your way is Bruce Springsteen? Then I must emphasize that you do everything. AND I DO MEAN EVERYTHING...in order to see Mr. Springsteen. With all due respect, you will not see a better live act these days than him.
