I watched it. It's turned into a freak show. I kind of liked it back in the old days when Sandi Shaw sang "Puppet on a string", but that must'ave been in '67 or something.
Today, it's all about costumes and appearance. Not so much about music. And very little about song skills. There was extremely little of exactly that - song talent - yesterday. I recognized two voices, ladies who could sing. One was from Poland (but she sang this really terrible song) and the other one was from Norway (and her song was not much better). The rest of them were clowns, drag artists and people who should not have entered the competition had they had any self respect. Or respect for the tv spectators. It was honestly horrible. But we had several evil laughs during the show.

Wow!!! I must check that out on "You - Tube", because in Italy the show isn't broadcasted and there's no italian competitor either. last year I loved Magdi Ruzsa's song, I think she would have deserved to win!

you're correct- my mistake.
Ireland must be shocked by this.

these were the countries that got through the first night: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Greece, Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finland, Russia, Israel, Poland and Norway.

Just curious - but is the irony of the Finnish performer - that heavy metal group - recognizable? I mean, they are not tend to be a kind of 'real' or 'serious' band but a kind of joke of the heavy metal clisches (a sort of Spinal Tap).

Going on recent years I think there's a good chance that Ireland can win it with whatever old crap that they enter, if Dustin wins that'll just prove it.
It's not Irelands fault that everyone loves them! smileys with beer (can I get a smiley with guiness?)

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

Don't want to spoil the fun - but...

Ireland's Dustin The Turkey won't be in Eurovision final
By Jody Thompson, Mirror.co.uk 21/05/2008
Ireland are out of this Saturday's Eurovision Song Contest final after Dustin the Turkey failed to qualify from the first semi-final.

The comedy puppet failed to ruffle feathers with it's song Ireland Douze Pounts.

Baboon, Hari Mata Hari has represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in Athens, 2006. Take a look at the live perfomance from that beautiful night.

I was in the hall twice at the Eurovision finals, since my job is Tv engineer. In 2004 Serbia had also a great song: Lane Moje by Zeljko Joksimovic and Ad Hoc orchestra . Zeljko is the host of this year's contest in Belgrade.
Yes, a lot ( too much ) of "gay pride" content in Eurovision but look at 2004's winner Ruslana or 2005, Helena from Greece. The quality will always win over kitch.

Here is Ruslana from Ukraine, Istanbul 2004:

Nothing wrong with it being a gay parade; that's the main reason I watch it. The more queens, transvestites and general OTT camp the better. You'd hardly watch it for the music, would you?

I don't think it is just a gay parade though. Plenty of attempts to win by flashing a good pair of tits too.

I hope the one from Serbia wins, because her song is the best and it's not a rip-off some american songs, but actually resembles the home country of the singer.

I haven't heard this years entry from Serbia but I did think the winning song last year was very good. And she didn't use sex to sell the song either. Amazingly for Eurovision, the best song won on merit alone.

tonight my nation Iceland opens the show.
i kindly ask you ( those who can..) to vote for them (us) smiling smiley
