I suspect that many of the folks who "laugh at the Stones" would laugh at unprocessed recordings of the Stones from any era. Some folks just don't get off on warts an' all, ramshackle Rock N Roll.
They've allways been as "bad"...not necessarily for the same reasons or in exactly the same way. But listen to stuff from any era. If it's not bum notes it's out of tune guitars or missed ques etc etc. It's not just the current personel either. There are plenty of meandering and meaningless MT solos recorded, played with an appallingly ill defined guitar tone.
We put up with all that for the unique magic this band has always had ..and still does.
