Well,

I won't tell anyone you had your camera there.

Tenerife was a paradise. A tropical Island off the coast of Africa. Being in a band with your own father really does have it's benefits!

Everyone was VERY nice there and the backline was perfect. I had my favorite AMP a VOX AC30. I did not even expect it but it was exactly what I wanted. I have to thank the promotors for their efforts.

A VOX AC30 is a type of Guitar Ampliphier. Normally, I use a Fender Twin Reverb but thats because they are more available in Europe. The AC30 is a better match for my Stratocaster Guitar. It allows much more sustain from the bolt on neck Strat.

Charles...

I knew it! I recognized your username from the CB messageboard. Hey it's good to have you on here, Charles. We're all HUGE fans of your dad. I saw you guys at Blueberry Hill 2 years ago and it was magical. To meet him was unbelievable. You guys sound great!

Charles, why is it that as of within the last 5 years or so...your dad has preferred having a band tour with him? Compared to the days of him just going solo and having a band provided in each city? I think it's great you and the band tour with him...I was always just curious...

Justin,

Oh boy, my cover has been blown (just kidding). Thanks for the props about the BlueBerry Hill show. We still do that show every month and its a blast! There's also a recurring quarterly show at the Argosy Casino in Alton Illinois. What's really, really cool about those shows (besides having the chance to jam with my father and entertain our home town) is the fact many of the opening acts have gotten some great exposure.

The Upright Animals I think are about to go big and the band LUDO has REALLY exploded on the scene! If I remember correctly, Ludo has gotten a mention in Rolling Stone magazine. That's huge!

Now the 1 million dollar question. Why has my father been using the St. Louis members my sister Ingrid (Vocals & Harmonica), Jimmy Marsala (Bass), Bob Lohr (Keyboard) and Keith Robinson (Drums) and myself (Guitar) in the USA AND Ingrid, Jimmy and I plus Jean-Michel Biger (drums) and Daniel Trustrup Rossing (keyboards) in Europe?

Well, in Europe it was our tour manager Patrick Rochet (Cheyenne Productions) that saw the numerous sidemen changes did not promote the most cohesive group for my father to have behind him. The two week plus tours of Europe (of which there have been six since November 2005), the last five have had the same line up (except for January 2007 when the excellent Frenchmen Manu Bach did the entire tour on keyboards). Without question, its a really tight band behind him. And the reason is simple, we now each other have become friends and Jean and Daniel have become accustomed to the wide open Jam session style of my fathers live performances. The one off's (I think he went over 4 or 5 more times either by himself or with Jimmy since 2005) over there have been classic "Mr. Promoter find competent musicians to back me".

The USA is a bit different. Since most of the shows are a whole bunch of one off's there has not been a tour manager to use the good common sense to bring the core band from St. Louis with my dad. The St. Louis team has nearly 85 years combined experience playing with my father. We can stop on a dime. Unfortunately, there are still times when it maybe just my Father, my Father and Jimmy, my Father and Me or the entire St. Louis team that go around the country with him. At least, depending on where he plays (East coast, West coast etc), there are people that he's used for some time that can fall into the mix. Daryl Davis plays both guitar and keyboards and on many of the shows on the east cost, he's the man. Even so, my dad can still pull off one hell of a show with complete strangers!

Charles...thanks for the reply...very good info there. I am so glad your dad finally has a solid band behind him because it creates a tightness and such a consistent sound for the shows. Who better to back him than his son and daughter with a couple of good friends!

Again, so great to have you here!
