The Stones are ranked as the second best artist of all time (after The Beatles) at the website "Acclaimed Music". The list is based on critics lists from around the world.
In a fair world, they would have been number one, but number two is not bad, either!

The list has a lot of artists at or about the right spot imo but Elvis (like on a similar list done by VH1) is way too low and Bowie, Springsteen and Prince too high imo. Just my opinion. I would put those three top twenty five but not top ten. The list actually gets dumber the further you get from the top. Van Morrison, REM, Talking Heads and Elvis Costello and no Buddy Holly??

.... lists are not important, unless your on the deans list, and i assume most of you dont even know what that means, oouuu, guess im feeling a bit there ..... ive got to tell you thou, i ve had sgt. peppers in my car for eight days now (more talk radio than crummy cds) and that is a ride,, ,,, deeper than any submarine can go now, the complexity of design as well ......

the stones are number 1.
the beatles were great but they didnt have the same amount of repertoire the stones had and still do.
the beatles couldnt do rock/pop, psychodelia, country blues. country, blues, reggae, funk, soul etc.
and the beatles music never had the drive or energy that the stones have.

THE STONES are the best.. they did it all....and they did it their way....without all the sweet loving pop songs and the cute lead singer!!!

The Stones are my favourite band. The Beatles were/are?? more popular. But trying to be imparcial the Stones are the best band ever. Considering the amount of quality songs and live performances for so many years. They are the best but probably the fact that they still exist and perfom it is not so good for them.

did you notice that sigur ros, my men, have have got their cd ágætis byrjun no 4 in 1999 and Takk no 16 in 2005 !
