taylor is a great guitarist but i dont think he would of adapted to the styles of music the stones were playing in the mid to late 70's . taylor was bored with the stones and the music would of suffered if he stayed

No, no, that's just the story they want you to think, we all know that Taylor was given the boot, because Jagger was tired of having 2 Micks in his band....it was stealing his thunder, Taylor never wanted to leave, he was told to leave. Oh, by the way, I've got some Ice in Alaska I'd like to sell.
I agree. this thread had absolutely no basis of fact from the beginning.EVERYONE in the british blues scene 1969 knew exactly who Taylor was. Filling Claptons shoes was no small order!
Y'know I thought this was going to be speculation the track on A BIGGER BANG was about Mr. Taylor instead we have a rant intended to upset a portion of the fans which is all a bit silly. Why not start a thread OH NO NOT BRIAN JONES AGAIN or OH NO NOT CHUCK LEAVELL AGAIN or OH NO NOT BV AGAIN if the only goal is to get a rise out of people.
It was a painful to me to see Mick Taylor playing in a club in Amstelveen Holland,1997.. His slide playing was great,I remember he fastened his shoelace in the middle of a guitarsolo.
There were maybe 35 people who were hanging around there anyway and maybe 10 people really listening to him. He played in the greatest R&R band in the world.

What do you mean with "i dont think he > would of adapted to the styles of music the stones > were playing in the mid to late 70's "?
The Stones were lucky to have guest players like H.Mandel & W Perkins. Musicaly Ron Wood has taken them nowere exept the fact that he is a true member, and that's maybe the main reason why Mick& Keith took him in the band.

2 years practice guitar and you can play it. To write and produce it is another matter.

Great picture. I've never seen it before. Thank you

Before you make such a criticism, try walking a few miles in his shoes. What sounds and looks glamorous and great to you wasn't to him after a time. I think Woody said something to Eric Clapton when Eric stated would be better replacement for Mick along the lines of "Yeah, but you would have to live with them," meaning Mick and Keith. (Does anyone have the actual quote by the way?)
Keep talking about Taylor people, maybe one of these days the Glimmer twins will get that odd idea and re-assemble that 70's lineup with Wyman & Taylor (and Ronnie)
Maybe one of these days... wonder if Bill Wyman might throw out an invite to Jagger or Watts for the Bash???
Chuck Berry won't let Keith in though ever since Keith put that bug in Johnny Johnson's ear to sue Chuck over writing credits..
