I've always liked the Tappan Zee Bridge, particularly approaching it at night as it comes out of the trees. Amazing sight. But the Golden Gate, GW, Brooklyn, and London Bridges are all also amazing. THe Bridge that is the road into New Orleans is probably the longest friggin bridge I've ever been on, as it runs pretty much the whole state above the swamps. The Merrimack bridge in Michigan is also very impressive from its length, but it has a grated bottom, as opposed to blacktop, which I did not like at all.

there are something like 112 bridges in the town i live in, not counting the footbridges.
i don't do rankings/favourites but Loving Cup sure is a beautiful buzz.
and i am charmed by Keith on Voodoo Stew or whichever Voodoo bootleg it is
rebelling against the "lousy Beatles bridge" in Please Please Me
"i'm not gonna play it!" - then he does, and adds: "i could've written it better" :E

anyone care to highlight what it might be about that bridge that bugs him so much?

Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge (aka Zakim Bridge) - Boston, MA

Side note - The man for whom it is named, a Boston civic leader who championed the idea of "building bridges between peoples", was a friend of Bruce Springsteen, who attended the dedication.

At present the Erskine Bridge just outside Glasgow is closed due to high winds. If you happen to use it, leave work now!

Crooked, or D'Oh?

After 7 years of orthodontia, I hope it's not "crooked" or that was wasted agony! My chompers are straighter than any damn Dutch bridge! Straighter than The Boss! Straighter than Mick Jagger and David Bowie, but that's a given!
Go chase the kids off your lawn, old fart Nemesis! ;-)

Here's one of the roads into New Orleans.
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
24 miles long, I think that's about 40km.
As far as I know, it's the longest single span in the world.
When you start driving from one end, you cannot see land on the other side!

Going over it in my head I do believe Don't Stop has two different bridges. Which makes it unique and one of their best "recent" efforts. And the guitar work is some of the "recent" best! Cheers!

There is a Calatrava-looking bridge just south of Milwaukee's downtown that by contrast fits the area perfectly...perhaps Milwaukeean sweetneocon can post a photo...

The only things good for my blood pressure are either illegal, immoral or fattening. Fortunately, I am devoted to my health... BP is inching down!

So... had you colonoscopy yet? I hear it's recommended for men of (ahem) a certain age...

Did I hear the faint whimper of "duck and cover" ??? Heh heh heh!

I have to agree that the bridge in Can't Be Seen is the best part of the song. The one in Hey Negrita is also pretty cool. I'm actually surprised nobody hasn't mention it yet.

I'm not certain it can be called I bridge but I have always loved the part in Winning Ugly when Jagger calls out:

I will not act unkind
I will not be so blind
I will not walk so proud
Come down from off my cloud
How can I live my life this way?
Beauty is staring me in the face
Ain't that the truth?
