The poll of 5,000 music fans put Oasis in fourth place in the list of groups who should split, followed by veteran rockers The Rolling Stones.

Depends on the agegroup and music taste, if the servey was done through some Pop magazine for 12 year olds the're bound to say that. I was talking to a friend of my nieces yesterday and he had never heard of Mick Jagger so nothing suprises me!

that could be about twelve people's opinion (and they're probably all ... ahem, never mind!)

Just by looking at the "want to reform"-list, one know that it's a sicko's list;
Guns'N Roses, ABBA, Wham....eh no thank you mam

What ! Led Zeppelin didn't make the cut? Or do they not count because of their one-off show? Ican't wait for the reunion of Wham and Spandau Ballet. This survey must have been taken outside a public bathroom in West Hollywood.

BTW, who is Westlife? Before life with IORR, I have never heard of them, and from what I see, I never want to either.

People have wanted the Stones to split since 1964. It was part of Andrew's publicity machine and the media has embraced it for over forty years. Its only annoyed me since the media became notably younger than the band and used ageism as their rationale rather than reactionary politics. Pretty silly when you think about it, if you don't like it just don't listen. I have no use for Van Halen, but I don't begrudge them for reuniting and would be quite happy for them and their fans if they go over great. I think Black Eyed Peas are crap, but don't really care if they break up or go on forever as it won't change the fact that I don't listen to their music.

Maybe somebody got confused after listening to the Mick Jagger single Charmed Life thinking it was a new Stones tune and felt the band should call it quits 'cause they released such rubbish.

What is the purpose of such a poll. What credentials ?

I guess my wife and my banker both took part in this poll.

The Stones are no longer relevant. Full stop. They're simply a traveling museum exhibit. And a VERY expensive one at that.

If the Led Zeppelin were still touring but hadnt recorded an essential album in a decade or so, the would be on the MUST SPLIT list and not on the "REFORM" list never mind the the hottest ticket at the moment.
likewise if the stones had split up, say after Its Only Rock and Roll, what price would a 1 off gig ticket set you back, never mind would they be on the "REFORM" list, of course they would.

the fact that Oasis are on a "split" list is more telling

Well,if so, I can live with it.

My reconsideration or re-evaluation of ABBA took place
back in 88 when I found myself in numberless Irish pubs
and after closing time they all fell into chantin'
singalongs written in my homeland some fifteen years earlier.

And I dont hate good pop songs in general.
I figure we human beings have the possibility
to embrace more than one musical style at the time.
