parislocksmith, you will see an old sick man who is sitting on a chair in the middle of the stage. He tries to sing, but his voice does not work very well, so his drummer must sing the most of his songs.
he's gotten significantly better the last year or so. he's been recovering from hip-replacements and pain-killers he's had to take for the last few years. he's not ever gonna be the johnny of old - but, it's not as bad as rank stranger indicates....
You will see a pale shadow of his former self. I saw him a few years ago, and it was indeed sad. On the other hand, I saw him many times in the '70's, 80's, and 90's, and they were always some of my favorite shows. Johnny was amongst the very best at one time.
What a shame , it seems like I bought my ticket a decade or two too late ( Malmö on sunday ) ! So what a about the warm up band for the show then : Paul Lamb & the King Snakes ?
If he is feeling good the night of the gig rest assured you will be impressed with his guitar playing. Really a shame to see some of these old heroes in failing health, but I give JW and other talented musicians credit for getting out on the road and playing as best they can. Here's hoping Keith can get some needed rest and come back stronger the next go around. I really think that head injury and his arthritis have taken a lot out of him.
He didn t look to good at Claptons Guitar Fest. He was seated and still had the goods on guitar. I think he played Highway 61, I can t remember. Might as well catch him while you still can.

Arthritis is chronic...it's not something that is going to go away and he's had it for a long time. He seemed to be on form for the last part of the european tour - did not see him at the beginning (and the reports seem to differ wildly) - but I saw him at the end (Copenhagen) and he was kicking serious ass...
My guess is, that he was on some new form of medication at the beginning of the tour ...but noone will ever know...and, frankly my dear, I don't care too much ;-)
Johnny has been very ill, getting off methadone for heroin addiction, pills too. Now he is moving forward, still not 100% but getting there. A friend of mine, a musician, has helped him kick his addictions and is going to tour the USA with him, this fall. I am actually trying to help with some of the bookings and PR.
P.S. The tour will be in the Northeast USA to start, if he gets into the venues that he'd like to play. I was told that he is still amazing as a guitar player and frankly, I don't care if he just sits down, as long he can still set the place on fire!

He can and he will! His playing is still great. When I saw him a few months ago, he reminded my of YODA. He can barely move, but once he has that life saber in his hand, (guitar in Johnny's case) there's no stopping him.
