I admit that I just skimmed thru 7 pages since I am pretty beat after travelling to London and walking part way to Beast's house in my Hawaiian attire thru London's wet and cold August version of an early winter, but Gazza brought up an interesting point no one is leaping on. And it has been brought up before in previous threads. Mark Fischer's company has already been contacted about the stage (indoor arena)for the next series of shows. Now while I am willing to admit that anything could happen, this surely is a clear road sign to anyone but the blind that the Stones at this point have every intention and plan of continuing, and not at some vague uncertain point in the future. The stage is already in pre-production...NOT THE THING A GROUP WITH NO PLANS WOULD DO.

I think it will just be their last major tour. they will still play gigs here and there.

A German newspaper wrote about the Rolling Stones:

THE GRANDFATHERS OF ROCK ARE CURRENTLY MOST PROBABLY ON THEIR LAST TOUR

... and that was during the Tour of Europe 1973...

there are two ways in my opinion

1) new album/s and few shows in small clubs or arenas just for fun
2) no more tours just new music frome time to time and lots of the best of albums ...

but for the first time i have impression it could be over.

Well it's kind of different with a grumpy old man standing still at the microphone and mr. Jagger jumping all over the place.
I do believe Zimmermann is 66 :-)

I am sure they will play in LA again but not sure if I will see them again. I am pretty sick of spending that kind of money but as with all concerts I will play it by ear as the day draws near.

I think we just need to ask Keith if he thinks "the wheels are falling off." He's said they'd know it when they were, and quit.

I hope they'll know. As much as I would like them to continue, I hope they pack it in before it's too late.

Stones quit touring reported on CBS new New York!!!!
Posted by: deadegad ()

I was just watching CBS channel 2 news 12:00 PM broadcast here in New York City, and the report with a live Stones video clip quoted the bans (Mick, maybe) as calling it quits, or no more touring, after these London shows?

Why?

Because they're too old, and these tours take a long time to plan and execute.

I wish they would keep 'small touring.' They dom't need a new stage, tour name, etc. just keep some equipment stored away on every continent.

For example a few weeks, a few show in the North East of America, USA & Canada and then a break. Divide Europe up into something they can handle in pieces too.

Or @#$%& it, quit, just go fishing instead.

No more big tour maybe, but who knows...they will pull something off in the future - as long as their in good health. They probably thought Knebworth 76 and Leeds 82 was their last concerts ever as well

I wouldn't take anything that tv news might have to say--too seriously. They are simply jumping on the band wagon that most online new sources already started.

Not sure how CBS New York would know this before anyone else.

It's like the feeling you get when you know your girlfriend is going to dump you...leave you....this is really a nasty feeling. This is SO SO sad...

Well, this is the first agency I've actually heard of that is reporting this. All the others I've seen are the celebrity gossip sources.

No, but it's all in the cards I'm afraid. Their age. They're finishing the tour in London etc.
If it's the final show, I think they should put it out on the internet this sunday :-)

We'll he wouldn't tell, would he. I'm sure they've either agreed saying nothing or they will publish it at a time they find suitable.

GUYS!!! They are NOT quitting! Rolling Stones for ever!! They can't stop. They'll die if they stop. It just won't happen. Maybe no more BIG world tours, but the Stones won't quit...that's for sure! I guess!
