When I did see the review in the swedish papers I got surprised. I think they all had a great night, including Keith. Well, maybe I`m too subjectiv, but I had a great concert and the rest of the audience had a great night. The audience and the band did support eachother and enjoyed eachother.

Rock journalists have always been enuchs at orgies. If the Stones were going to play Chicago tonight, I could tell you exactly what our idiot "critic" would write the next day. It is the same every time regardless of the show. Whenever I ask anyone who has just seen them for the first time what they think, answer always sonething like "Blown away...amazing...best show I ever saw.."

Just beacause the Stones span over so many generations
nowadays it just gets this way.
Thankfully enough there's a lot of young people that enjoy
and cherish the GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL IN THE WORLD.

My nephew was one of them last night!

It was a great concert! I brought my wife, son and brother in law and they all enjoyed it! My wife has seen the Stones many times but for the other two it was a first! Regardless of what the louse tabloids in Sweden sys it was a really great show. Keith was on fire after a shaky start. Jagger as always great! What a man! I am 56 but I would really have had a cardial arrest after all that jamping about. In many ways I really thinh that this sholud be the last tour. If we look at Keith with sober eyes this is obvious or---?

I'm a little surprised too that there were so many young people at the show. Maybe there are no other big rock bands around anymore in todays music. The 80s was much better in that respect. Then Rolling Stones really had competition for the audience. I mean, today Robbie Williams is counted as a rockstar. Certainly a great entertainer but not really a true rocker. Rolling Stone's music is eternal. Rock on!!!

Keith was absolutely NOT dead drunk, and needed no support from Ronnie before the show. This is the honest truth. I know, I met them 2 hours before, backstage.

Well I formed an opinion based on what many have said in this thread and what I know about their current playing ability. We all know there are reporters that love to bash them and based on what I read of his review (the portion that was posted here) he seems to be one of them. Of course this is just my opinion.

Well if you interpreted it that way that's fine. It seemed more like bashing to me. I mean Jagger and Watts are the ones carrying the band these days. It seemed to me like he was trying to take one of their positives (Jagger's performance) and turn it into a negative by saying he looked desperate. Again just my opinion and the way I interpreted it.

OK, how would you compare them now to their 1972 tour? I mean, if they are excellent now.

Impossible to compare these tours for me if you mean
the 1972 North American Tour because I wasn't in the US then!

Neither was I and yet I can easily say that they were Gods back then.

Here's what Aftonbladet said about Gothenburg:

"Keith brukade vara gruppens motor. Men i kväll är han bara en trasig och gammal rockmaskot."

"När de sista fyrverkerierna dundrat färdigt kommer en konstig känsla krypande.
Den är tom och lite sorglig."

Markus Larsson

Doesnt sound like excellent to me.

Well that reporter must have been drunk himself.
Both Keith and Ronnie did play excellent.
Reports in the Swedish newspapers are obviously not
positive but still they are also a bit too negative.

I read both Aftonbladet and Expressen and just a
couple a days ago when Aftonbladet were saying that Keith
was too drunk to play Expressen hailed the Stones and said that
the Stones were excellent and peaked their form before the Gothenburg
concert. Just some days later both papers are nagging on Keith.

I think that the concert was better than the last one Stockholm 2003
and mind you Keith was drinking at that tour too.

I think that the reviews in the papers are a case of bad work and the reporters
that wrote these reviews are not competent too write about music or even know
what happened in Gothenburg.

The show yesterday was nothing short of excellent. Second best of the ABB shows I´ve seen. Only downer was during Satisfaction, when Keiths amp did not sound OK, the speakers sounded as if they were blown. But that did not stop Keith. He´s a trooper.

My website MAGICAL BEATLE TOURS at www.magicalbeatletours.com is now updated with 75(!) BEAUTIFUL PICTURES FROM THE ROLLING STONES AT ULLEVI STADIUM, GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN, FRIDAY 3rd, 2007.

We got fantastic places at the fence, right in front of the B-stage. A little to the right - KEITH's side - our hero! Also great photos from the Main Stage. I wonder if you have ever seen so beautiful photos from an amateur!

Also 30 great pictures from the RONNIE WOOD ART SHOW at Galleri Viktoria, Gothenburg Sweden.

And what about THE BEATLES?! Well, they are my heroes as well! Take a look at the website!

Enjoy!

A Danish newspaper quotes one of your fellow vikings who reported that Keith was very drunk. So what's the story here?

Link: [ibyen.dk]

I was at the concert too, and I agree with you that the gig was great and Keith didn't appear to be drunk at all.

Not true. But it seems the newspaper wanted some "good" headlines... Keith was in a very good mood, not dead drunk. No leaning on Ronnie, he ran around in the room like a kid.

Nothing about the concert in Copenhagen last night in Swedish papers today.
Maybe the editors have locked both Markus Larsson och Per Nunstedt in their
respective offices.

Or maybe they've decided themselves not to try to write another "drunk" story once again.

I am almost quite sure I'll agree with you mickijaggeroo, but who the f*** made up that story by quoting Ove T ? Hasn't Ove T got enough "influence" to slam back at the press ? I would think so. He's normally a great guy. Still is I am sure : ) Like all of you Stones neighbours : )

It's Expressen. It's the number one tabloid isn't it?

Yes, but what's the reason for Expressen quoting Ove T ? Being journalistic whores or..... ??

This questions puzzles & engages me too;
but till we know I can just state Expressen is the 2nd tabloid in Sweden,
for almost a decade Aftonbladet has been bigger.
I also note all the morning papers were fairly to very positive.

Why did Tingvall say that he was drunk? Isn't he one of the Stones Vikings?

Didn't he say that after the Helsinki gig? Perhaps newspapers just used that quote again for Sweden...
