Donnow bout McD; but that Starobrno restaurant was a real treat
as was the Socialist Confrontation Camp we ended up in.
Some dinner doins 'round here, but those who waits for
a brief primate review may just check here in seven hours from now.
Otherwise it seems like the Vikings have some thangs cookin'.

Still no plans for Göteborg, yet still a possibility.
Depends on work.

Baboon, it would be interesting to speak to you live on the air tomorrow night, about you visiting your first Stonesgig, and what you felt about it. And you can of course ask for your favorite Stonessong to be played. Interested? Look here: [www.iorr.org]

Mail me if you want to participate.

Ok.
Dont agree with Brother Lorenz on audience (should have stucked by us).
One one hand my impressions goes in various
directions (more later), on another the crowd was enthusiastic enuff.
I'm sure Kent & Sören will share this note.

I will not comment the warm.-up more than I find it a coward thing to
put up such a boring act. Lucky those who get Toots.

Start Me Up - habile work.
Lets Spend The Night Together - great work, air of the 60s
Oh No, Not you Again - Nice choice. Smokin' piece of sh*t.
All Down The Line - At first we didnt know what to expect. But great.
Love Is Strong - WONDERFUL!!! Jagger on the Go!!! ONe of the highlights!
You Can't Always Get What you Want - Started smokin' but eventually with
less juicy passages. Doubt this is the perfect place for it in the setlist.

Here I will make a note that my non-Stones fan friend bought himself a
Standing tic. He found the first part of the show utter bad; I have
contemplated that opinion much since. Believe it was a little
too much 'inside' passage of the show.. ?

Midnight Rambler - back to highlight again. Gotta be the best
rendition sofar in 2007!! Absolutely @#$%&' smashin'!
I'll Go Crazy - Not too bad but I dont like it.
Tumbling Dice - Really good. As I recall it, Keef made it longer
either by distraction or for fun.
You Got The Silver - halleluyah moment!!!
Wanna Hold You - Not as good as Silver yet still really really good!!

Miss You (to b stage) - Great & fresh & crisp!
It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (b stage) - Alas no good view for me;
but a heavy & stompy piece of rockenrål.
Satisfaction (b stage) - Exstathic crowd!!
Honky Tonk Women (back to main stage) - So/So. Brilliant to some extent.
Sympathy For The Devil - Really really great!!! Amazed how much energy they pumnped in it.
Paint It Black - Along with LIS & Rambler the show's ultimate highlight imho.
Jumpin Jack Flash - A little tiredness could be flashed.

Brown Sugar - Keef mashed it up. He just cant make this intro
anymore. But after that, it smoked like hell & the guys left
the stage with HUGE dignity and after a VERY good job.

I could picture this bein' the best show since Rome. Keef is far out,
technically, at times; but I sense he made one of his best efforts
along this whole leg. Ron was just outstanding, as was Mick: glad
for his excellent harmonica playing!!!!! And both Rambler & LIS!!!
Also found that he at times steppoed out off his macho dancin'
& found his old camp style! grinning smiley ... Charlie was good that night!!

I'm glad I went there. I felt such a strong tenderness for that little, old
dynamite man Mr Watts when they made their sorti from the stage.
Nice moment also seein' Keef & Mick standin' together.

I could also sense its soon time now. I have been lobbyin' for a while that
they ought to skip these mammooth-concept. Keef feels a little like a
circus freak or an animal on a circus-wagon. Let the guy sing. I can, thou,
realize he wants to play himself.
Keef could receive a flow of love & good feelings from the hippie
veteran (yet varied, age-wise) audience.

I believe this was THE event along the B- and the "eastern"-semi leg.

And nice to see ya Lorenz, Lorenz' gf & Björnulf!
Kent & Sohoe were wonderful travelling mates!
Might just post my sons opinions later; but
they were generally very very positive.

Good you enjoyed it, Peter!

About the crowd - some agreed with me they were lame, others said they were good - so I guess it depends where you were. Wish I had been there with you guys, but we were on the tribune on Keith's side and couldn't make it over to Ronnie's side later sad smiley

Agree with you about MR and PIB - those songs have been always very well performed on the gigs I saw. I think they could've chosen a better cover than I'll Go Crazy - it indeed makes them sound like a Vegas band..

What the hell is the deal with the Brown Sugar intro....I can play it...it is not that hard.

Some people seem to have a preset definition of how this intro should be played. I'm glad Keith hasn't!

I agree. But I think even Keith would be happier if it was in the same key as the rest of the band..........

Re: Brno update

maybe... maybe not...

But you sound like there's some kind of musical rule that you should play in "key". There isn't!

If it sounds good, it sounds good!

Emmm........I think you might find there is such a rule. At least you are supposed to play in a related key and not a semi-tone higher like our Keef in Brno. But maybe he only does it to p*ss Mick (always the perfectionist) off. It really didn't sound good!

Re: Brno update

If I say it sounded like horse-shit, it did sound like horse-shite, trust me, lads.
But I dont blame the man: I'm glad he can play as much as he actually can.
Perhaps Woody could do his part & Keef could do lead in BS?

Re: Brno update

What sounds good is a matter of taste, and as such can be discussed endlessly...

To say you like something or don't like something is ok with me. That's a straightforward and honest opinion. I have no problem with that!

But I do have a problem with this "Keith can't play, he was out of key" stuff. OK, then:
What rule(s) did he break? And why can't he break them?

(Warning: This could be a trap question! Don't forget, music history is all about breaking "rules"!)

Re: Brno update

klypp, what´s the problem? Don´t you think that Keith would play the right chords in the right key if he was able to do it? Try to be a bit realistic, he doesn´t change key because he feels like it. The man is getting old and you can either accept it or live in a dream.

Re: Brno update

Klypp, what are you talking about?
He @#$%& up the intro. It was wrong and sounded horrible.

Re: Brno update

No question about it.. He didn't do the BS intro very well. From time to time he tries to change bits and pieces a little bit - sometimes it works out just great, other times it doesn't.. I love that he does that, and you can't be "lucky" every time. I don't mind him @#¤%!ing it up, it doesn't ruin the song or the concert experience at all for me, it just adds more spice, and more of that "live" feeling.. Some days are good, some days are bad - even for Keith winking smiley

Hear, hear, its Mr. CleverClever speaking! F###ing up intro of Brown Sugar has nothing to do with "history of breaking rules in music", Keith does not break any rules or pushed the boundaries of music a bit further, he simply f###ed the intro to Brown Sugar, man!!! playing in wrong key is playing in wrong key, simple as that and no need to disguise this in hypertheoretical bullshit talk about breaking conventions and such idiot intellectual stuff!!! its rocknroll and not twelve-tone music, and the Stones are not Stockhausen, cant you see!

Keith is obviously able to play other songs VERY WELL! Why does he KEEP doing this on BS? Wouldn't the natural answer be, because he wants to?
And why does he suddenly get old every time he play BS?

And this shit about "key". Thought I'd call that bluff...
It worked!
