I had A2 row 1 seat nr.10....and could not enjoy the gig cause you could not hear anything..no guitars, no singing, no horns....Amsterdam arena is a paradise compared to yesterdays sound desaster.

>> The loop WAS still running. That prooves what I said earlier. <<

well, since i was talking about what happened at a US show in 2005,
what happened at Frankfurt might - obviously - be different.
at the same time: the musicians on stage are not hearing exactly what you're hearing in the audience,
so the fact that you could hear the loop doesn't prove anything about what Charlie could or couldn't hear.

>> To make a long story short, my impression at this time was more that Charlie cares about Keith,
and that he didn't stop playing because of technical problems. <<

thanks, but could you elaborate? i'm interested because it was my personal theory in 2005
that Charlie left the stage to stop Keith from murdering someone.

Never stop playing during a song. No matter what's going on on stage.

--------
I dont necessarily think its 'bashing' in the way that Ronnie used to get 'bashed' for turning up under the influence and spending more time poiting and posing than actually playing. The general tone I've detected from the first few shows has been more a genuine concern for what appears to be the man's apparent physical fragility and possible ill-health more than anything else.
---------

very well said gazza. no one would ever want to bash keith.

when charlie stopped playing during sftd i thought it was great to see how mick, chuck lisa and bernard kept on playing and really rescued the situation.

i mean, imagine the drummer stops playing, the loop alone is not enough, you need charlie.

it was great to see how professional, fine, intelligent musicians they are.

i really think that people who saw the stones the first time yesterday might have enjoyed the show. the band acted very professionally and overplayed so many problems during songs. i really think most of the people didn´t recognise that.
they maybe complain about the sound but not about their playing.

in general i think mick, maybe not yesterday because he had to much of a hard time holding all together, which he actually succeeded, is better than ever, on top of his game.

yepp, that was really desastrous.
In the very unlikely case that the Stones would play Waldstadionagain I will not go there again. Understand now why Amsterdam Arena way boycotted.

WHY THE @#$%& DIDN'T THEY DO A SOUNDCHECK!!!

I'm glad Keith didn't collapse completly during the gig. Hope he improves and the tourcan be completed.

I'm sure they did. This was just the best thing that was possible. Most shittiest venue in Europe I guess.

WRONG !!!!

During rehearsels someone who was listening at the back of Videohouse (like I also did) placed after 5 seconds playing the name of the song on this forum.
When they started the 4th number Stones-security came to find us (because they did know a few fans listenend without doing any damage (!)...)
and forbid to place the names on the internet or we had to leave and never could listen anymore.

So even during rehearsals Stones-management is reading this site !!!!

Perhaps not Stones theirselves (who knows) read these pages but for sure the management and crew do !!!!

Niels

? how about CARAMBA ?

The sound was fine and the view was perfect in section B2 near the B-stage.
I shot video clips from my digi-cam and the sound is quality is A+

Hmmm...I guess location is everything and the front rows nearest the stage aren't always what they are cracked up to be?

I've been to many Stones shows with heavy rain (Munich 98, Cologne 99), why the hell did they close the roof! There is no need to close such a roof in advance!?

No, there isn't. It's beyond me why they did it. It sucked.

>> no one would ever want to bash Keith <<

well ... that's a beautiful idea but it's not really accurate.
there are people who don't get into Keith - don't like his singing - don't like his recent playing style
(i don't mean the last couple of shows, i mean the last couple of tours) -
and/or perceive him as perpetually drunk/wasted/out of it no matter what he does.
there's also a part of the posting population who feels "more discerning" if they say they notice something wrong -
maybe that's what the glamourous Beast was referring to when she noted that last year it was Ronnie, now it's Keith's turn.

i appreciate that a lot of these reports are based in sincere and warm concern for Keith,
but it's simply confusing that the reports/perceptions vary so much.
some of them do seem to be coming from people who aren't particularly into Keith to begin with
("he doesn't play when he sings" or "he messed up the lyrics" aren't signs of anything suddenly/radically wrong);
and some are plain misinterpretations (he didn't stop playing in SFTD - the technology broke down)

i'm repeating myself, i know! but sincere concern doesn't prevent misinterpretation -
it can lead us to blow things out of proportion. so it's just very hard to assess what might be going on.

all kinds of blessings & well-being on Keith and all the Stones.

Sure that broad grin and that spark in the eye on picture 1 really makes him look terrible ;-)

Could it have something to do with the airport nearby the stadium and the concert-lights? You could clearly see the planes landing during the whole concert. Same situation in Amsterdam I think.

VERY good point!! I think that was the reason.

last year (short after the "tree-incident") his playing was much better (he just looked a bit weak in Berlin...), but yesterdays show... I hope it's just kind of a temporary flue. If you are worried that the reports are varying: he was definately not on fire when I saw him yesterday from front row. He moved around in slow motion, hoe he will be fitter in August.

i think for the concert in frankfurt most people agree on keith´s performance.

and for the other shows before i think there are too many reporting the same thing.

i know everybody says believe me, but really,
believe me ,he is not the same person really.

i didn´t know there are people who dislike keith.

to dislike or bash him now is not fair, cause he is not himself for whatever reason. whatever he does right now he can´t really control.

i payed 350 euro for my ticket, but i am not angry.
i don´t blame anybody, he simply can´t any better right now, but they have to do these concerts.

Definitely not! There has always been a stadium there. The old one didn't have a roof and concerts took place there including the Rolling Stones in 1990 and other big acts with big stages and lots of light like Madonna and whatnot.

unfortunately, a person CAN change that much even in a few days, e.g. if you suffer a stroke, even if it's a light one, so let's hope Keith was "only" drunk

Here we go again! Dr. Cat I presume. Now keiths had a stroke!!! Unbelievable....

Was IOW only a few days ago or am I also in a coma?

i think there is no reason to bring other diagnosises into play.

but it seems most of us agree that he is not the same and that it has to do with the brain.

Re: Frankfurt reports here please

He had a couple of those last year too didn't he...if you believed the self appointed neurologists around here after Fiji. ;^)
Bollocks !

Thing is...we can't answer any of the questions we keep posing about Keith's health...or prove any theories. So what's the point ?

I know that most of it is out of affection for the guy...but who does all this speculation help ?

I get cross with Keith on occasion...as many of us do, but we forgive him.

If folks really do suspect that he's ill...shouldn't they then be inclined NOT to make these forums into medical consulting rooms staffed by quacks !

Keith would probably be in fits of hysterics at some of the comments posted...but if there were anythinng wrong with him...those comments would be hurtful.
We should all just pack it in.

well, obviously he was quite fit in IOW, did a lot of rehearsals. He might just have had a godam bad day. Should they have canceled the forth concert of the tour because Keith had fever for example? That would have been really bad publicity. Did people who met him at the rehearsals report that "he was a completly different person", too? In the recent interviews he seemed to be in a quite good mental shape.
