I am as excited about the "new song/jam" calim as anything else. With Prince Rupert leaving, a whole new feeling of "the boys are wrapping it up," has started amongst some of the staunchedt board members. Assuming it was more structured than Keith and Ron weaving some nonsense, it implies that the creative juices are still flowing.

I'm not tying to rain on anybody's parade. But go back and read the Toronto rehearsel song list. They rehearsed many songs that never got played on the tour.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

Sorry J.J. just pointing out the obvious. But if they do play those songs, then great.

Personally, I just interpreted that as being something that Mononom either :

a) couldnt hear well enough to identify properly OR

b) it literally was a case of them jamming in order to get warmed up, a la "Extreme western grip"

I'd seriously doubt that the Stones would play an unreleased song this summer. Its hard enough to get them to play much of ABB, unfortunately.

I'm getting excited about the tour now, it seemed so distant before today,
wonder if they will do any "tributes" this year, like Bob Wills Is Still The King and Learning The Game ? But old songs from Europe are kinda different from the Country/Blues roots in US, so probably not.

They have been doing lots and lots of jams and blues and rocks and licks on the first night of rehearals. Have to get the guitars and the crew and the band and all that other stuff to work you know. It is a long time since Vancouver...

They may or may not play these songs.

But there is no harm people hoping they will throw a few new ones in to the mix.

I got excited reading with sssouls post.

Thanks to those lucky enough to be there for reporting back.

I can see how they want to avoid huge crowds at rehersals. When the tour starts it's a different story. On some stops the bands publicist inform local media of the bands arrival at hotels and have legitimate newspaper photographers and local TV crews in position in the lobbys just to get a 20 second clip of them walking from the front door to elevators. Helps build the hype the day before a show especially if sales are soft.

it will be interesting to see what if any ABB stuff they'll do since They dropped everything except SOL on the last part of tour. will they bring back more? perhaps a something new? or no more ABB and leave room to delve into the songbook?

Well, I was surprised to read that, they seemed to rehearse Sweet Neo Con pretty extensively in Toronto before the last tour. But never ended up doing it live. I think it would be intersting to hear live. It has a funky unique kind of sound to it. Even disregarding the political content of the song.

Are you sure? I wasn't aware that they stopped doing ONNYA or RJ on the last part of the '06 tour.

Undercover is always a great song live. It really spotlights Charlie.

how often do they do UMT? i don't think i've seen it. i was too young to know how to buy scalped tickets for the sold out '81 show.

and heartbreaker, i live with a keyboard player who might influence me a little with that song but really it was one of the first songs i knew by the stones when i was little - like an introduction to their 70s stuff. it's part of what made licks great for me. i'm a huge fan of GHS.

and am dying to hear wanna hold you!!

One swallow doesn't make a summer. Everyone's a terrorist until he has proven he's not guilty?

Don't get paranoid. If it's even reported on TV why not post it here.
