We'll never know whether or not the snorting took place and the truth of it actually doesn't matter one bit.

This is just a big, stupid, needless embarrassment for the Stones. If Jagger or Charlie were to find themselves on the fence doing about an album or a tour, the potential for this kind of pickled nonsense--to say nothing of real problems--could easily be the deciding factor in putting the band to bed.

Remember when Jagger was touring with Joe Satriani and Keith was the one protecting the reputation of the Stones? My how time flies...

I work in tourism as an Advertising Director and on my office door, facing out, is the poster of the Stones from the Robin Hood concert at Radio City! I get enough grief over that!! Regardless of how you or I choose to regard it though, this is certainly more newsworthy than either of the episodes you mentioned. And it isn't merely the NME or the Associated Press or any other media outlet. Six people forwarded the story to me in the hour after it went out. The term for that is "viral."

Nobody's truly surprised by womanizing or simple misadventure. Just watch how this sticks--it won't be forgotten. Least of all by bandmates whose lives and reputations are tied up in the Rolling Stones.
