Yep, it's pathetic to see that we are only able to rise our own standard of moral values by ta(l)king down those of others.

(As well as this could be read as a protest agains American hypocrisy in politics and values, it is, in fact, exactly the same for everyone. From talking behind anothers back at work, to child abuse sundays after church.) Keith just takes away the reflection of the mirror in which we like to reflect his image. He's just not what we want him to be day in and day out, that's what he shows us, intentionally or not. And this goes for both directions, whether it is true what he said, or just a loose remark. F*ckin english language.

Time to go to work.

Keith will be ROTFLHFAO if this story causes a fuss in the media.
It's interesting that although Keith is a long adopted yankee...his sense of hunour is still very much of the slightly tasteless english variety...and Americans still don't get it !

a fuss in the media? - well, its made the frontpages of all the UK tabloids, this morning.

It was on the TV news (ITV, secondary all day news channel) this morning here in France.

That's not surprising is it.
I haven't seen them or the NME interview...but I expect it's one of Keith's more frivalous interview performances... where he just talks lots of complete bollocks and makes as many outrageuous comments as he can possibly squeeze in.

yes, and hello spud, as noted above, and i see you responded with good humour, this from daily mail UK
[www.dailymail.co.uk]
seems to be pretty 'irony-free'
and i do belive NME has the entire original interview that this 'item' was leaked from, scheduled for print. two UK publications. i think that generally speaking, it's fair to say that UK general citenry is as generally uptight as most yanks. monty python (and many other marvellousy brilliant and dry brit comedic stars traditionally pretty dang huge business in the states.) methinks those of us who rock mostly got it from the gitgo. in all countries i would bet?
my yank friends seemed to see the absurd keithian humor in this pretty dang quickly.

can someone please scan and post, the NME 2-page spread?

Re: Keith: I snorted my father

I think Keith is toying with us to see who is the most gullible. Wasn't it Keith who said something along the lines of "I don't care what they say about me as long as they are talking about me"?

The gullible denizens of the media will lap this up - UK Daily Mail will be so far up its own self righteous ar*e it's untrue.

Do any of us truly believe a word of this?

What day of the week does NME come out? The article in Metro says : 'a full interview with KR is in the new issue of NME, out tomorrow'....

This is from the same interview:

"I've been trepanned. That's quite an interesting experience, especially for my brain surgeon, who saw my thoughts flying around in my brain.

"I've got pictures of it, mate. They cut my head, brain, skull open, went in and pulled out the c***, and put some of it back again.

"But that's the way it is. I mean, s*** , Keith Richards has got to do everything once."

I think it's obvious that he was having a laugh. No wonder he was a shy boy when he was young; some might say that it would be better to shut up than to live with everything that comes out of his mouth every time he opens it. On the other hand, that's just another addition to the legend. I mean, he's a smart guy and knows a lot about history for example, especially WW2 but how often do you see interviews where he discusses the reasons that lead to the failure of operation Barbarossa?

He must be fully aware of what the product Keith Richards is like and how to market it. Just repeat "all the usual crap, all the usual sleaze" and for 2000 quid (or whatever these so-called journalists make) some bimbo is going to get it printed yet again and the legend lives on.

Oh! By the look of that young man who's having a chemical romance (let's hope it's carbon neutral!), his mascara - the one he bought this morning, is not going to last long... Someone's gotta teach them yound posers that less is more. They should get the "how to put on a credible rock'n'roll make-up" course, by Mick Jagger. He used to do his make-up himself in the late 60s and early 70s. That looked cool.

If it is true, it is deplorable.
If it just a joke, it is deplorable.

it's disturbing, for sure -
but is it as disturbing as wearing fishing lures in your hair?

Re: Keith: I snorted my father

His father is DEAD. Whether he did it or not does in no way stand in the way of Keith's respecting his father, so what's wrong?

Don't reflect your own values on other people. Besides whatever values you may hang on to for whatever reason, strictly spoken he did nothing wrong except for probably not telling the truth. Like I said in the first post of this page, there is a lot of hypocrisy in the fuss that is created around this remark. We all do worse things.

This may well be true. Only Keith knows for sure.
The Palm Tree incident has morphed into a shrub incident preceeded by what chemicals perhaps? We don't know. COuld have a been a simply accident.

Snorting the ashes could also have been a simple slip of the mind while doing drugs.

His father dies, he is indulging in cocaine, the ashes are there in a container...

It could be true.

Poeple do strange things on drugs.

Let's not forget in our indignation that Ronnie was kept away from Keith after shows during Licks because Ronnie has been through rehab again and Keith was not about to stop his ways just for Ronnie.
