Ronnie Wood interview is encouraging!
Posted by: windmelody ()

Finally I read the Wood interview in mojo. He says that he did not play well in Cologne last year, and that he realized for the first time that he should change his lifestyle a little. That gives me hope for the summertour. If you want to solve a personal problem, you need to recognize that you have a problem.
It is interesting to read his remarks about Cologne, I have been to that show, and although Wood is a charismatic man I was shocked how horrible some of
his solos were. Now I hope for a good summertour with great Ronnie Wood
performances.
In the article there is a short quote by Slash, in which he explains in a few words how he became a Ron Wood fan, his description of Ronnie Wood's playing hits the nail on the head.

I agree Ronnie is not always on, but in Berlin he played great I think. His solo on YCAGWYW is the best solo I've heard him play on that song.

It seemed Woody carried the show, at least as far as the guitars are concerned, on that cold, cold October night at Soldier Field last year...

Berlin was not as embarrassing as Cologne, but that does not mean he was good.

I've been to Cologne, the show was great but Ronnie was terrible. My best friend since days if youth and his son were disappointed. But we give him a another chance!

I agee 100% with what you state. Keef and Charlie were un belivable the second half of that show, never seen them that good the way they took over the show with that Rolling Stones Funk.

In my opinion he was pretty good in Twickenham last year even though Keith stole the show with his solo on Sympathy.

In Toronto in Sept 2005 he was OK. Not great. Hit some solos, was lost and disjointed on others. I've definitely seen him worse.

He may be a nice guy, but he is the weakest link in the band. He may have once been a good guitarist. He sounds great on old Faces stuff. But that much boozing has to catch up with you.

He was Keith's buddy, a fun guy, fit the band's image and fit the party image the band had in 75. He just doesn't have it live anymore.

I just can't see Keith ever sacking him.
