Anything would be nice but what about that expired record contract? Any new developments?

I'm pretty sure they'll release something in the run-up of the summer-tour 2007. Maybe a live-album, just like "No Security" in 1999

IF they tour

The European tour is in support of FORTY LICKS as has been every tour the past five years. A studio album is a piece of contractual obligation no different than releasing another RARITIES. I seriously doubt there will be another tour to showcase new material.

There will be a new CD.

Seriously, what are they going to do to promote the euro tour?
I mean, we fans and Stones boards members know this tour should happen, but what about the rest of the world?
It's a long work to convince people to buy tickets, usually a new records and advertising for months. But this time, nothing at all, and we are in march, nobody except us knows about the tour. I'm curious, they need something big enough to light the fire.

Well, by looking the rumours where they are going to play - East-Europe, Spain, some cancelled shows of last year, IOW, plus adding few extra shows to their strong and safe markets (London, Paris, Germany) - I think they will not have much difficulties to sell quite well without any big promotion campaignes. They don't need any big tricks to light the fire - like they didn't much do when they went back to America last year, if I remember right. I think this is not going to be a NEW BIG LARGE-SCALE EUROPEAN TOUR a'la 82, 90, 95, 98, or 2003 but more like continuing the one of last summer.

Another re-hash of rarities(?, live stuff or questionable hits packages won't make any difference. They'll sell as many tickets either way. Do people really go to see the stones when a new CD comes out? And if the back catalog picks up a little I guess thats gravy for them. If gives them a platofrm for advertising but it has been a long time since new albums are driving the tour machine.

I'd LOVE to see them do a CD of blues/r&b covers of early influences. Not very commercial, but nothing else they've released has been very commercially-successful either, in a while.

Take some of the stuff that they were playing in clubs in the early 60's and record it with modern equipment...Chuck Berry, Chess stuff, etc.

It'll never happen, of course, but I'd live to hear it.

well, Stripped surfaced IMHO rather surpisingly with Studio live tracks recorded during the VL tour. How ever knows, perhaps the Stones did something similiar this time (just to record some great blues tracks might not have been to hard for them during the tour?)

60-somethings dont have and dont need smash hit singles. That aspect of their career is long over

in my opinion--GAZZA---youre wrong. There is nothing better than a hit-single to promote a tour---even when you are in the sixties!!!

Name me an old act with a smash hit single, the last one was Aerosmith's Jaded and was thanks to the Super Bowl, actually it was their last hot 100 hit.
The chances for a Stones smash hit single today is 1 in 1.000,000.

I agree that there's no way in hell they can have a hit single now because of the way the music industry functions with regard to older acts.

But wouldn't it be cool if they did put out a single, just one new song, before the tour? They could sell it on ITunes or, hell, give it away for free on their website. If it never dents the charts or makes a dime, who cares?

I think they have still have enough love of the music left in them to write and record one song without caring about $$$ I'll bet if they put their minds to it they could come up one really good tune for '07. Thoughts?

However, to get back to what havo says, georgelicks has it right. Regardless of what they want or intend to do commercially, the exposure simply isnt there.

Radio doesnt play current Stones songs and the video wont get airtime either. Total waste of time, from a commercial viewpoint
