OT: New Year's Eve Drink Selections

This year, instead of Stoli vodka, I'm going for Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. Don't snarl your noses, children, this is pretty tasty stuff. Provides a nice twist on the classic rum & coke. To make it even stranger, my mix will be diet Coke. Why? Don't ask LOL.

....you had me up 'til Diet Coke, bassplayer...and you should be ashamed of yourself, coming from West Virginia....I mean, if it's not brewed in a rusty radiator of the mechanic living at the end of that dusty dead end road, it's not realy worth drinking is it?

That being said, if all goes as planned, I will be drinking some "peach brandy" brewed by a 400 pound "disabled" man named Tiny....I should be puking by 1AM

Here's the deal -- I really shouldn't be drinking at all, since I'm a diabetic. That being said, I drink liquor only once a year, and take precautions, i.e., diet mixes and plenty of food to counteract the Symogi effect ( sugar shoots up and then takes a nose-dive). I catch a good buzz, but don't puke and don't go into insulin shock.

This is NOT recommended for anyone -- after 40 years of being a Type I diabetic, I've recognized my limits, and have learned how to compensate. I like to have fun, but I do not have a death wish, OK? I want my friends here to fully understand this.

Wow, how I hate Captain Morgan. I hope you find a suitable substitute like bacardi clear.

Can we start now? An experimental brew based on an old Chinese recipe that tastes like a tripel from Dogfish. On Amateur Night er, NYE, it'll be a mix of Irish whiskey, Wisconsin craft beer and a taste of cheap champagne.

Note to self: Do not take sip of beer while reading posts. That last one ended up all over my computer screen after reading that post.

There is still time left. But that gets my vote for the funniest line on IORR in 2006.

Oh, you´re going to drink an A&E? You only get one shot...smiling smiley
Me, I´ll stick to my cider and beer, and maybe a little Jack on the side, depending on my mood.

Nothing exciting, but i have found that sticking to jack daniels mixed with coke, I can go all night, and stay pretty coherent and not throw up, and the hangover aint too bad the next day either. As soon as i mix a lot of beer or other crap into the mix, then the problems start!!

I've got a drink suggestion...
don't mix drinks, keep 'em straight, no-matter if it's rum, whiskey or vodka.

Have you seen "The Big Lebowski" with Jeff Bridges? I can highly recommend his favorite drink.

White Russian:

4 part vodka
2 part coffee liqueur (Kahlua)
3 parts light cream or milk

That drink is a perfect starter for New Year's eve IMO. I'll take one in a few minutes.

I took 'few' of those last night for a starter. And screwdrivers, too. And few straight from the bottle. Estonian vodka Viru Valge. An excellent choise for 'heavy' use. Then the bar circuit.

Today the menu is paella with two bottles of white wine. And a bottle of cava too. Just me and my lady and a 10 months old baby. A family affair.
