I don't want to stirr things up,but the best slide player the stones ever had was Taylor. No matter who played what.

Technique wise yes, doesn't mean every slide part he played was better than the others slide parts though.

Technique wise and music wise. I don't understand that people still dispute that.

cos as a straight lead player, taylor cab play circles around most musicians, including ronnie. so, some folks wanna believe ronnie had/has "something" on mt.

He was technically the best guitar player the bands had, but this does not mean every part he played was better than every part played by others.

The music part can be disputed because that's mostly down to preference and tastes.

Better technique can't really be disputed, he could play circles around the others, but it's not about technique it's about music and the others most definitely produced music that is worse, equal and better than Mr Taylors contributions vice versa etc etc.

Musicians aren't always 'on', Taylor is no exception.

For instance, I like the very simple solo Keith played on Tumblin´ Dice better than the country licks Taylor played on TD live. That´s ONE example of how a musician, albeit with lower technical skills, can make more suitable and imo better music, despite the lack of virtuosity.

T&A:

some folks wanna believe ronnie had/has "something" on mt.

That´s just ridiculous, imo. I think my argument above is a plausible answer. It´s all about the music and the song, not necessarily the skills.
