I like 'Ruthless People' OK, but Ive always preferred the b-side of that single, "I'm Ringing". A good song that deserves to be better known.

I think the quality of songwriting is better on Godess than ABB.

Maybe Mick should take the lead again on the next Stones Album. Maybe make a real follow-up to Wandering Spirit with the Stones as his band.

My Stones tastes are, admittedly, a bit Mick-centric.

It's on "Singles Collection The London Years"

Much better than the one on Metamorphis - that one sounds like only a practice.

Thanks. I've got the London years but I got confused by the discussion about the Stones version and the Jagger version. I assumed that the London years version was Stones and the soundtrack Jagger.

Cheers

Nope.

Soundtrack & LY = Jagger
Metamorphisis = Stones verions (with a Foxy Lady-ish grove)

There's another curious version in Unreleased Bootleg Land - it's the same vocal as the Soundtrack - but the music track is different, and 'apparently' the Stones on that one. It's still not as good as the main version.

Lots of gems in Micks solo discography (even on She’s the Boss and Primitive Cool)

It is truistic to say that every track on Wandering Spirit is nothing short of amazing. As for, Goddess in the Doorway, despite wanting to look/sound contemporary cool/ambient ( esp on the titel track), there are some absolutely brilliant songs. God gave me everything is as good as anything Mick has ever written lyrically and musically. To me this song basically summarizes Jagger's evolution a singer/songwriter and says that Mick has finally grown up. Also, it is refreshing to hear Mick being able to "rock" hard again without sounding forced on quite a few numbers including Everybody get High and Gun. The only weak track musically and lyrically in my opinion is Visions of Paradise. The rest of the album has Jagger singing at his best - on EVERY TRACK and working hard on song writing.

I also think that the Alfie soundtrack gets overlooked.

Wicked Time which basically features Mick Jagger on backing vocals is absolutely brilliant. Again, Mick sounds as good as he ever has and listening to this on a pair of Bose earphones makes me feel that Mick's singing is better than ever. An especially difficult track to sing considering that he is backing up some classically trained singers who provide the lead vocals - primary lead vocals are Joss Stone & Nadirah "Nadz"

All the Jagger haters (wonder why they even call themselves Stones fans ) can start hurling expletives.

I had to close the car windows while sitting in traffic today when Put Me in the Trash came on! Cringeworthy but, yeah, great for the kids.

I can listen to him doing that Bill Withers song over and over.

While Jagger might deny this, it is obvious that he chnages up persona to write for solo vs Stones nowadays. And to be honest - his solo persona is far better for me. "Goddess" writing is very close to the bone. ABB sounds forced in places; like Jagger is doing exactly what kills so may Stones wannabees. trying to be "The Stones"

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

Some of his better songs on ABB were actually written for "Alfie" but not quite finished in time. "Laugh I Nearly Died" was for sure and "Biggest Mistake" certainly sounds like it.

I quite liked She's The Boss when it came out, tho haven't given it a listen in quite some time. Lyrics are a gas.

She's the boss in the office

She's the boss in the kitchen

She's the boss in bed

Yeah, she da boss of my head

Jeff Beck's guitar is fantastic, too...I'm gonna dig that out and slap it on!

JUST ANOTHER NIGHT. But one curious thing to me about the song is when Mick sings "I was lonely `til I saw you at the station.' Mick pronounces "saw" as "sawah." Maybe he felt he was one syllable short in that line?? I've always thought it odd.
