Allright, just suppose they used the B-Stage to do an all acoustic set. What would it be?

Me, 1. Wild Horses
2. Angie
3. Dead Flowers
4. As Tears Go BY

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

They did that already in 1995...

Didn't they invent the "short acoustic set" idea in 1969 with this Prodigal Son - You Gotta Move double treat? Led Zeppelin did acoustic sets too, but not until the early 70s as far as I remember. I dont count Dylan here who performed solo in the first half and electric with The Band in the second half of his shows in the mid-60's. What I am talking about is doing a short acoustic set embedded in an otherwise electric performance. Any artists of fame who did it before the Stones?

Country Honk.
Sweet Virginia.
Sympathy For The Devil (Like in the Goddard film).
Dead Flowers.

Would be awesome.
Another cool thing: Start a concert with acoustic slow tunes and build it up to a rock 'n roll warhorse mayhem.

T.Rex used to be an acoustic duo in the late sixties. Then in the early 70s progressed to a four piece electric band but continued to do a four song acoustic set between their electric songs.

well... my list:

01. Angie
02. Let It Bleed
03. Play With Fire
04. As Tears Go By

... i'd like to hear a lot more, of course
but 4 songs are realistic for a b-stage set

They did Angie, Sweet Virginia and Dead Flowers in Miami 11/25/94.

Allright, so I'm only 12 yrs. late with the idea.

IMO they didn't have had a real accustic-set yet...ok, the thing was that they payed two or maybe sometimes also three accustic ballads in 1994/1995, but...ehhhh.
I guess sweetcharmedlife meant something like U2 did in 195 or 1996, as they played a complete accustic-set on their B-stage. Just accustics and also areal defined.

Oh yes they did have a real acoustic set in Miami 94. They went over to a kind of B-stage, and did those 3 songs before returning to the main stage.
Aired on TV.

Yes, okay, but not on the whole tour, that's what I meant.

Actually I remember Led Zeppelin used to do an acoustic set in the middle of thier shows. At least the 2 times I saw them. I was just thinking that the stones have a lot of great acoustic material, but live they rarely ever play anything acoustic, except for SV, DF, ATGB. BUt if they put 3 or 4 songs together it would make a nice set. Espiciallly since the original concept of the B-Stage I think was supposed to be a "stripped" down sound.

It's still a good idea. (Though the tour is almost over)

The point is not that SCL is 12 years late because it's hard to keep track of everything that's happened in the past but as "The Snowman (Erik)" wrote it has been done already. A "B stage", Miami Pay Per View, 1994. I went to the LA (Pasadena) shows and I can't remember if they did this exactly the same way but think it was close - maybe not. It's the same show (Miami) on the VOODOO Lounge DVD but of course, at least one song was pulled (can't remember which one) Doesn't BV have all the set lists up around here somewhere? Anyway, it's been done and I guess they (Mick) thought it slowed down the show too much. I thought it was great and added alot

The 3 I would like them to play:

AS TEARS GO BY

TILL THE NEXT GOODBYE

BACK STREET GIRL

(Bonus) 2000 MAN.

Just checked BV's set list. No, that 3 song Acoustic set was special for Miami (but it is on the DVD and was a Broadcast). What's amazing is they did 27 ! songs in Miami - Holy Sh*t !! And now it's 19? WOW.......Boys are slowing down....

"The two worst word in the English language are 'acoustic set'" --David Lee Roth (who by the way sang on two acoustic bluesgrass versions of the Van Halen songs Jump and Jamie's Cryin' recently)

Re: Stones - Acoustic Set

Really uninspired choices on the acoustic picks, my friends; they're all songs that are essentially acoustic anyway.

How about trying something a little daring? Like an acoustic Tumbling Dice or Paint It Black.

Acoustic Street Fighting Man on stripped, by the way, is FANTASTIC.

you can't catch me!
