I don't hate Kiss, but that's kind of a cheesy thing to do.

Everytime a KISS thread is introduced to this board, I think of the response that Gene Simmons had for Oprah Winfrey, when asked how long his tongue was. "Long enough to make me your very best friend", was his reply.

His reality show is quite bad.

I have seen Kiss live. Great show but not so much rock'n roll. More like a pyro event. If I want to see pyro I stay awake on Dec 31 and watch the new year's eve fireworks. If I want rock'n'roll I go see the Stones.

That's pretty funny actually. But I find Gene completely repulsive, if I was only interested in a long tongue, I'd rather date a labrador retreiver than him.

Fun!!! And yes...good choice Gene is a money-dog..that said I loved Kiss when 13...Ace is a Stones-fan who once met Keith..have the story somewhere...fun!!!I still like Detroit Rock city!!

I like big drums. Drum shops generally don't have old stuff. To me, the second-hand stuff is part of the fun of drums. That natural kit that I use-that's an early Gretsch kit with the round logo on it.

I can't believe a thread about Kiss even gets this much attention.

Most important bands in the history of rock and roll;

1,800,267- Joe Shmoe from Idaho's garage band.
1,800,268- Kiss

Fact number one- they haven't had a good song in eons.

Fact number two- even their songs that were good back in the day sound crappy now- with the notable exception of the two Peter Criss love songs "Beth" and "Hard Luck Woman".

KISS- lousy musicians but GREAT money makers and money managers.

Ah but they wrote some of the best (= cheesiest) lyrics:

i was listening to love gun and rock and roll over lps earlier today. these albums contain some damn good rockin music. cheesy lyrics aside this is just damn good basic rock. watch kissology winterland 75 show and you can see that these guys were really playing their asses off and sounded damn good. then of course, they became a big money making machine with songs as excuses. hmmmm, sounds like another band i know.

For you to lump Kiss and the Stones together is ludicrous. Any of the last four albums by The Stones is better than the best album by Kiss.
The newer Stones stuff only sucks when compared to Exile etc. unlike the newer Kiss stuff which just plain sucks.

Yeah I liked them too when I was a kid- now it sounds like crap- would rather listen to elevator music.

i would never place kiss in the same category as the stones musically

there is no comparison

the stones are far superior

all i am saying is that kiss had some pretty good rockin tunes that are still fun to listen to

a lot here just take things way too seriously

hey, its only rock and roll

kiss were never great musicians

they just sounded like a good bar band with decent originals

they bookended a good run of albums with alive 2

then they really really did nothing good after that maybe dynasty and creatures of the night

they just put money in front of the music

the stones have and will always be on their own plateau far above everyone else

i agree that the stones worst far outshines anything kiss has done

but early kiss circa 74-77 is just good rock from a band that simply loved to play and put on a show and they did it well

this i why i rarely post on this board anymore. everytime a band who's not the rolling stones is talked about everyone here practically says they suck. cheesy lyrics? has anyone listened to rolling stones lyrics. a lot of there songs are cheesy as hell too. i'm not saying i like the stones more than KISS but i am saying people on here need to lighten up, grow up and learn that every band doesn't have to be the rolling stones to be good. in all actuality the rolling stones are the greatest group ever that made it big yet the talent of the members isn't all that great.

Talent of the members isn't all that great? WHAAAT? Jagger is the best frontman in history, Richards a great guitarist even though he struggles now- same with Wood. Watts is a great drummer.... Not to mention one of the best songwriting teams in music history. Forty two gold records, twenty seven platinum, over 40 top forty hits on both sides of the Atlantic, the biggest tours in history and they did all this without being talented? The Stones could fart a song that sounds better than anything Kiss did.

I agree some people have the attitude that every band sucks besides the Stones but I never said The Who, Aerosmith etc. suck. I like a lot of bands besides the Stones. As far as Kiss goes sometimes you just have to call it like it is.

yeah but i can name tons of guitar players better than keith and ron, i can think of at least 20 drummers off the top of my head better than watts and jagger may be the best frontman ever but his voice isn't exactly the greatest in the world. anyways my comment wasn't directed at people saying KISS suck or this or that it was a comment about people's attitude of the board in general. anyways telling me sales and hits doesn't matter to me because that means michael jackson is better than prince and we all know thats not true. michael can't play an instrument really and barely writes his own stuff. prince destroys jackson in almost every aspect of being a performer and musician but has far less sales and hits.
