Re: Nice if Mick Taylor & Bill Wyman would join the Stones next year

yeah...and remember the guy that you replaced at work? they should bring him back...and let him use your desk. that would be cool.

and remember that other guy that quit in 1990? let's get him back and vote him employee of the month.

Bill coming back would certainly bring in a younger demographic...

It's us who want yesterday back.
Bill or MT are never gonna be on stage with them again. And I'm sure they won't do it for their last gig cos I believe they have no more of an idea when that will be than we do.

They gotta stop these cross world jaunts though....

kyle m

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

GET OFF F*CKIN MICK TAYLOR, YOU ARE LIVING IN THE PAST, IN A GO*DAM FANTASY WORLD. WHAT IS THE CONSTANT OBSESSION WITH MICK TAYLOR BY PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD??

THERE IS NO COMPARABLE WHINING ABOUT BRIAN JONES.

I AM SO SICK OF IT TO THE POINT WHERE I WISH HE HAD NEVER LIVED, PISS ON MICK TAYLOR!!!

I ACTUALLY LIKE HIM AND HIS PLAYING, BUT YOU PEOPLE ARE MAKIKNG ME HATE HIM! IT'S LIKE A GREAT SONG THAT HAPPENS TO BECOME A HIT, BUT BECAUSE IT IS PLAYED OR SPOKEN ABOUT OVER AND OVER AND OVER, YOU END UP HATING IT.

Come now, it's only rock 'n' roll, no need to get in a tizzy.

Just for the record: NOBODY was talking about replacing Ron Wood. Ron is great. Did Buddy Guy replace Ron Wood at the Beacon? No. Did the Young brothers replace Keith and Ron in Oberhausen?NO

Would be fun to see MT on stage of course, but I wasn't too impressed when I saw him.

re-read my post......where exactly did I say anything about replacing Ron Wood or Darryl Jones? My whole point was how stupid it would be to bring back people from the past while Ron & Darryl are still there.....I equated to the common man at their job. Everyone else understood.

Neo Con - music & work should NEVER be compaired...

The stones bring in "guest' musicians all the time, what would be so earth
shattering to bring back two ex members to create a BUZZ?? and money.

The reason they should invite Taylor back for a gig is because both Jagger &
Richards thnik he was the best guitarist that was ever in the band!! Both have
said so!!

Sorry were bugging you Timber, when Taylor is invited to join, you can go catch
the Rod Stewart concert....

Music is their work.
Obviously from a fans perpective...it would be interesting & entertaining.
From the bands perspective (band member dynamics etc...) it's a different story.

It would be like inviting your ex-wife back into your current household because she did things better than your current wife. Sure it would be entertaining to your neighbors...and maybe even you.....but how does your current wife feel? And isn't that what affairs (aka SOLO projects) are for?

(sorry...first analogy i could think of)

It's much different than having a "guest" musician. There's no history with "guests". There IS history with EXes.

Obviously you've never been in a band. winking smiley

Actually, I miss Brian sometimes. Of course, he can't be the subject of this thread, since he is not available to join the Stones next year..

Con - In music "Bands" are always getting back together, want me to go over the list?? and they are not "hoping" in bed or moving in together, we're talking about a one night special appearance!!! Taylor's says it's been talking about
with the Glimmers, he says it will happen one of these days. I believe him.

Getting back together? The Stones aren't broken up.
Reunions of broken up bands is one thing...reunions with intact bands is another.

ok.......the only one i can think of that is close would be
VAN HALEN / VAN HAGAR / VAN ROTH. They recently did a tour with both Hagar & Roth...i think, That was an act of DESPERATION. Stones aren't there yet.

Mick Taylor might be desperate but the Stones are not.

No one's making you hate Mick Taylor. If you hate him then it's your choice. Moroever it's not his fault that topics relating to him keep coming up on this board. Perhaps in the future when you see a subject line with Mick Taylor in it you should avoid it and spare yourself the aggro. Just a thought

What's with people, it's so "easy come, easy go" kind of deal. sad smiley

Tim, such hostility. That's unlike you. The Plexiglass does not approve.

Maybe there's a good reason why the MT threads keep popping up.......many of us would like to see some shows with MT and Bill in the line-up. Nobody is "replacing" Ronnie.

The Stones have guests quite often. Some of them work and some don't. There is no comparison to Van Halen or anyone else. The only band that compares is teh Beatles. And there are a zillion people that wish they would have gotten together for one more go before John was murdered. Now George is gone too and it is impossible.

It's not the same thing, but as close as it gets. One mre go around with MT and Bill (with Ronnie).

It is not impossible. Only two people have to say ok.......

don't give me that ole one two, one two three four

This may depend upon how much "unfinished business" there is.

Taylor toured with Mayall's current band for a few months in 2004. Buddy W, Mayall's guitarist, did not seem to quit, whine, sulk, or fear a replacement. Everyone seems to have moved on after giving lots of folks a lot of pleasure.

I presume if Wood joined Rod Stewart on stage, Stewart's guitarists also would not feel put out, and Lindsay Buckingham would not go off the deep end if Peter Green showed up for a Fleetwood Mac show.

By the way, I've been at various weddings where ex-s have been invited guests. I don't recall any torn hair, throw glasses, . . . .

That being said, I'd rather Taylor tour solo, or even with Mayall, than play an underrehearsed, one-song, let's-shuck-for-the-nostalgia-buffs performance with the Stones.
