There is a reason for the saying "you can't go home again." Maybe it would be great and maybe it would not.

If they want him to play and if he wants to play, the chances of it being what we imagine would increase a lot if rehearsal was involved. Chemistry is everything.

I think It would have been nice if he never joined the Stones in the first place.
That is my personal opinion.

Skip - By that comment you weren't around back in 1969 when he was asked to join.. Best move the Stones ever made!!! IN MY OPINION!!!

BV - Why do you think it will never happen? Is it based on something one of the "current" Stones has said to you?? Or maybe their management?

I been around since 1948 if you want to know. I still prefer the Stones as they were with Brian Jones. Mick Taylor turned them from a high energy bar band into a polished dime a dozen band with long guitar solos and crap just like every other band was playing by 1969. The only saving grace from the time little Mick joined until 1973 was Jimmy Miller.

It is 20-30 years since Mick T was on stage with the Stones (depending on whether you count regular shows back from 73 or guest appearance 81 or so). They don't need him on stage. That's why. And Mick never looks back only forward. Same reason why I don't expect Bill to show up except may be for 50 licks charity or something very very special but they have a guitar player - Ronnie - but no bass player so that's a difference. Ronnie is in the band. Darryl is a hired bass player, even if he has been there for ages.

Of course they don't need them. Ronnie is great, so is Jones. They don't need guest singers as well. Yet, they do invite some occasionally. They don't need Buddy Guy as well. But it would be great (if everyone involved would be happy with it) to see them again IMO

BV - guess your entitled to your opinion, but even Jagger says: Keith & Ronnie
can't play guitar like Mick Taylor. A one shot show with maybe Bill Wyman for
old time sake? I won't give up hope until one of the big three, Keith, Jagger
or Taylor kick's off...

Buddy Guys, Angus Young, Dave Matthews and most other guest artists are stars on their own, other performing in front of larger crowds. Mick Taylor is unknown for most people except for those who followed the Stones in the 70's. He is performing in smaller clubs bot he don't tour with a major schedule published by the industry sources like Pollstar and Ticketmaster. Ask anyone under 40 years old and they would not have a clue. He is a great guy and I love to see his band whenever I can, but he is a blues guitarist not a guitarist in the Stones anymore. It is 30+ years since he decided - on his own - he wanted to do other things in life. Just as sure as the snow is coming every winter in my home country in Norway, just as sure I don't think Mick taylor ever will be on stage with the Stones, unless something very versy special is happening.

take it from this 20-year old - that's simply untrue.

you can't catch me!

I agree most people under 40 don't have a clue who MT is.

I'm not an insider so I really can't say. But, I asked this before on another thread and really didn't get an answer.

Has ANYONE every really pinned Mick down and asked him if MT would play with the Stones again live? I don't think that ahs happened. Some guy yelling during a press confernce and Keef giving a flip rsponse doens't count.

If that happens Mick will either haev to say "not interseted" or something to that effect or it's just a matter of someoen close to the band making it happen.

I have nothing at all against Ronnie......the fact is father time is going to catch-up with them one day. It migfht be next week or in 10 years. But I MT and Bill coming back at least for a few shows would be special...........

I think it's only a matter of time before they actually NEED to call him to boost their sales. The greatest hits bill will get tired, and Jagger will get tired...then it goes back to the music being center-stage....and that's where Taylor comes in, and appearance won't matter a bit, because the fans will be old, the stones will be fossils, and it's only rock n roll....

Although I love the idea, one of the reasons why I think it won't happen is that maybe MT himself doesn't want to. But we shouldn't get too serious about this subject, it's just a thought of mine.
Although it would boost ticket sales. Oeps, now I woke-up the boss, MC!

I agree that Mick Taylor is a fabulous, fluent guitar player.....however, these threads remind me of a kid wondering why mom and dad can't get 'back together' after they've broken up! It's not gonna happen, Taylor wanted to leave, was stifled, unhappy, whatever...and the Stones moved on to a new "wife"- Ronnie Wood. Love him or not, he's a Stone and I think they're keeping him!

Of course, a one off show with Taylor, Bill Wyman and the boys would be fun...but that's probably all it would be....

Harm -
1st off, Mick Taylor has repeatly stated he would LOVE to sit-in with the
Stones again, at least once..

BV - You would be surprised at how many "younger" Stones fans know who Taylor
is or when they are introduced to him they react favorably. Alot of people have
seen: Gimme Shelter so they are exposed to him. Depends on where your from.
Fans in San Francisco,Los Angeles & New York are very knowledgeable, Taylor's
shows in clubs in those cities do well for him.

And again people we're not talking about replacing Ronnie, just a show or few show's with special guest's (Taylor & Wyman)

Still like to watch the Steel Wheels tour when Eric Clapton sat in and played on
Little Red Rooster - the way the crowd reacted when Eric let's go with those Blues leads, the way Jagger roll's his eyes when Eric finishes the 1st lead,
the way Ronnie sticks out his arms so Eric can't leave the stage at the end of
the song. Took the energy level up many degrees on that show...

"Repeatedly stated.... at least once" (is that possible?)

And Clapton on Little Red Rooster was dire (aka Flashpoint), pointless twiddly guitar solos.

Why would they want to confuse the audience with TWO MICKS? winking smiley

Maybe the Beatles could call Pete Best. Is he still alive?

Ablett - got to throw in your "comments" don't you.

Clapton's leads where: pointless, twiddly, glad the Stones don't agree with your
accessment, you need to get into Rap, or some Vegas lounge act, maybe N. Sync?

Something who doesn't feature a GUITAR...

Bro,
No it's just some clown (Ablett)
who doesn't appreciate what made the Stones the #1 R&R band in the late 60 thru the early 70's....

Hell he doesn't like Lead guitar players and he's a Stones fan?????

I don't think anybody belives MT will replace Ronnie. And very few actaully want that to happen.

AT this point The Stones have done just about everything they can do. What's the big differnce in 2002/3 or 2006??? Really not much.

Bring Bill back and add MT for one last go around maybe 10 or 15 shows. London, NY & LA.

It really would be a big deal. Most peope under 40 don't haev a clue who MT is becasue they're out watching SAW III.............It wouldn't take long to put him (and Bill) back on the map

don't give me that ole one two, one two three four
