Unchained Melody, Elvis Presley, soon it'll be Little Darlin',
that "small talk" that sounds like Spanish language in Little Darlin' is really cool.

That's a cool name for a club---father and grandfather were huge
Brooklyn Dodgers fans.

Toni Braxton on the NBA halftime show.

I don't really like her music. But man she's hot.

Ditto that for Christina Aguilera...........At least she hasn't shaved her head yet...ala Britney

Just My Imagination--Still Life.

The sax is excellent, but I still rate '78 higher---better guitars and vocals.

you crazy, GS? blast the hampton version - the Still Life rendition is "diet JMI."

then, i suspect you'll reconsider. '81 JMI whoops '78!

Sad to admit Nik, I no longer have Hampton--used it, got "borrowed"...you know the rest.....

But, is it really that different (edit aside) from Still Life?

I am very, very partial to '78 and I just think Detroit '78 JMI is as good a jam ("weave" to use the proper term) that they ever had--just such a groove. And I also prefer Mick's vocals in '78. They were fine in '81, but they were GREAT in '78.

Actually, listening to Still Life in the first time in a long long while---what is up with playing every song 100 mph---(Let Me Go--what a hatchet job!)--they sound like they have a plane to catch or something.

Still Life i bought twice on vinyl back in the day (second one on the picture disc)...but agree with Nik - never bought it on cd and no reason to. Several of the HQ boots from the tour blow it clean out of the water. The edits are abysmal. The Stones are arguably the worst-ever band for putting out live discs.

HQ--a boot label? True about the live releases--except Ya Yas--they got that right, in a big way.

I don't doubt any of that. But, for me, personally, while I will always have a place in my heart for '81 cause that was the first tour I saw, I think the '78 model was better. Ronnie's playing was light yrs better, imo. I can live w/o the sax. Much prefer the '78 guitar sounds--they sure fell in love with the Boss Chorus in '81. And, from what I have heard, prefer Mick vintage '78 to '81

i would certainly argue in favor of 78 over 81, as well. No, HQ (high quality) ain't a label. There are dozens of soundboards - some better Q than others - circulating from the tour...that's what i was talking about. I like YaYa's fine - but there are better overall listens from that tour circulating as well. several of the best songs from the tour aren't even represented on YaYas.

As you can see, I am a real audiophile--lol.

I have seen Seattle several times, maybe I will give that a try--oddly enough, I do NOT see Hampton around. I know Seattle because the cover is Mick alone--have seen it a bunch of times. In all honesty I do not really remember Hampton--I was "divested" of it yrs ago. I recall reading (I think here) that virtually every show from '81 is available in SB--sounds like a sound guy got pissed or needed a couple of sheckels. Still Life is a disgrace and an insult to the bands fans. As Q Magazine described it--the first meaningless live Stones record.

As for Ya Yas--yeah, the complete show would have been great. That said, I have San Diego and Boston (2nd show) and am not sure I would rank either above Ya Yas--certainly not SD. Boston, to me sounds very similar (very similar) to Ya Yas. That, however is the extent of my '69 knowledge.

To stay on topic, lol, listening to The Blind Bemefit from '79. I know it is sloppy, but I enjoy that show--I think Flippo's book is part of the reason.

yeah - the '79 benefit is a trainwreck throughout (MJ is so drunk he can't even remember how to start @#$%&!) - but somehow it retains a certain charm about it. I almost never listen to YaYas anymore when i'm in a 69 tour mood - i have about 6 or so shows that i regularly rotate though. Oakland (2nd) still tops the bunch - performance/sound/excitement factor, etc....

I know--I crack up every time I hear that--so damn funny. The look on Keith's face must have been priceless. My theory is that the boot is, I am pretty sure the second show, so Mick has spent the better part of the day getting wrecked.
It does have a charm---it is so ramshackle, but it has character and it is HQ. lol

The Oakland show? Really--that was the beginning of the tour right? Is that the Liver Then You'll Ever Be? (still the greatest title for a bootleg, ever).

Opinion on Boston 2nd show?
