Believe me, you don't wish Amsterdam. Any other place in NL, but not there in the stadium.

because theyve "just done" America to death.

They were supposed to play Asia this spring as well.

So by now I guess we don't have to expect any announcement for today anymore - it's already afternoon GMT... seems like we have to keep on waiting to find out when "closer now. Much closer." will be ;-)

Sandy

Some confusion over the Lyon date.

Nostalgie radio in France are now saying that Paris will be June 16th and Lyon on the 18th (I presume this means the 18th of June). Info from Jacques on Rocks Off - [www.novogate.com]

Hope that helps.

Dont book anything yet - the way things are going, by tomorrow we;ll probably be hearing its in August.

June 18th makes more sense, though.

Does that mean the dates will be announced tomorrow?

What's the latest on this whole thing? Any news through the grapevine? Gazza said about two weeks ago (When he called the broker) that the announcement would come "in about 2 weeks time" if I remember correct. That's right about this moment isn't it?

following the previous speculations I'd assume the dates were already announced today, yesterday, last week, in the middle of February and - for absolutely sure - not later than at the beginning of last December to save ticketsales for last christmas.

To speak in mathematical terms: if it is sure they tour, and the tour starts in June, I'd assume the probabilty of an announcement tomorrow is around P=1/(dayslefttilljune), and for the day after tomorrow it is P=1/(dayslefttilljune-1)
and so on.

I'd assume if some insider would really know when the announcement takes place we all had been told more precisely WHEN. As bv said "announcement comes much closer" this could just mean that show biddings are at a final stage or finished. I mean who ever said announcement is today (Wednesday) was obviously wrong.
Perhaps the Stones do not announce anything at all and leave it up to the local promoters to say "hello, we booked the Stones for June 27 for Neuschwanstein castle, please buy ticktes". (-;

OK, please don't take that June 27th rumour for serious as it's not yet officially confirmed (-;

nooooooo..I was cynically referring to the fact that in the last 2 days, Lyon has had 2 different dates.

Ok, I see, Gazza - we'll still have to keep on biding time...

But how come that Paris was confirmed? "Who" confirmed the date? Just some radio station's or ticket agency's wishful thinking? Or did a local promoter confirm this date?

Thanks. This whole tour announcement reminds of a certain scene in 13 Days.

Still not confirmed by the Stones management as it hasnt been announced and it probably wont be until the official tour confirmation.

However, its the one date and venue that has been consistently reported now for months - on here, and now by newspapers, radio stations and a few travel companies. Someone linked to the promoters for this show has evidently been more forthcoming about leaking the date than has been the case for other shows, it would appear. Thats somewhat normal, in advance of every tour there are some dates that "leak" faster than others.

The Stones crew and staff members were told to be ready for May 2007. This was back in November as they finished off in Vancouver. I am pretty sure they will rehearse one week or so late May then start touring early June. Usually they rehearse in Amsterdam, but also in Munich, so may be they rehearse in London if they start touring there. Mick, Ronnie and Charlie would save a lot of travel money. Business flights to mainland Europe could kill their budget...

I just hope they learned from this last North American leg (or arm or liver...):

1. Don't over-saturate markets...try playing some new cities
2. Don't charge ridiculous prices and you won't have play to empty seats
3. Don't let the tour go into Autumn and end up playing cold outdoor stadiums

I hope they have a great tour, and come off the road with a desire to go back out and play live, soon.

I really doubt the prices will go down.

Rumours from stonesforum.nl:

Werchter (Belgium): August, 13th

London, Wembley: August, 25th

Funny you should say that, but the story I heard last summer was that the Stones wanted to close the tour at Wembley Stadium.

That would certainly tie in - although these tours never end on the date theyre originally meant to.

I notice from that forum though that the person who posted the info states "Wembley Arena" and not the stadium . [www.stonesforum.nl]

Werchter seems a strange rumour though, as all the indications were that they'd play in Brussels.

The Werchter/Brussels-thing seems strange to me, too..

But I didn't notice that the person mentioned Wembley "Arena" though - could it be that the Stones will play there instead of the stadium? Or do you think someone just mixed things up?

No idea, mate. Logic would suggest the stadium (plus, that date is a Saturday) but if this tour is going to last almost 3 months, that would suggest over 30 shows (even with a break or two) and I cant see them playing throughout the summer exclusively in stadiums - especially not when theyre waiting until (so it seems) at least mid-March to announce the thing.

Interesting that there are hardly any rumours at all for stadium shows in August, yet June-July has several. maybe some of the August shows could be indoors and dont need to be announced so far in advance. One can hope.

It's funny, the stones have been doing shows in england during the last week in august for a while now. The Bridges to babylon tour was postponed, but original dates were 20th / 22nd August, then licks was almost identical dates, and ABB last year again almost identical. And now there is this rumour of 25th August. It works well for me, because my birthday is August 23rd! However I hit 30 this year and was planning the party on the 25th. It's a bank holiday weekend, so if the stones are in town, its gonna be one helluva party!

I am really hoping for an arena show here. It would be incredible...

Wembley Arena was a bloody nightmare for all 3 shows last time as far as getting good seats. We'll ALL need all the help we can get - we're almost all in the same boat. That place only holds 11,000 at the most. The few that actually go on sale to the public (ie, if youre not going on some overpriced hotel & ticket package) will be gone in about two seconds. Bank on it.

My money is still on a tour closer at the stadium up the street, though.
