Some European shows were selling slowly even before Keith's accident. The World Cup in Germany didn't help sales of Stones tickets there.

THIS is the sadest statistic of the Stones I have EVER read.
They have lost a lot of interested people with those prices.
A new European leg would be no good idea for them.

Yes it would! A lot of the shows - among them several of the cancelled shows - weresold out. A lot of us hard core fans went to several shows. And I really do think many of us will do so next summer, too! It's not up to you to decide wether it's a good idea or not. The Stones want to come back for the cancelled shows (and a few more) - and we want to see them! As far as I'm concerned - that's what counts. If you don't like the idea - stay at home!

Yep. Quite a few of the cancelled shows (most notably Barcelona and Madrid) were sellouts as far as I'm aware. Paris also added a second night, dont forget.

I still think that they'll need to play SEVERAL arena/theatre shows if theyre going to spend 3 months in Europe next summer as well as taking a long look at the prices theyre charging, but there IS the demand for a tour, if its marketed and structured properly.

As you might have noticed (by the setlist and set length)
they don´t do shows for us, they do shows for the 99% of
the audience (that´s what I blame them for, too). Anyway,
it´s not a good idea to do more stadium shows that do not
sell out. Take Berlin for example:

> The Rolling Stones
> Olympiastadion
> Berlin, Germany
> July 21, 2006
> $3,997,912
> 44,989 ----------> 20.000 unsold tickets, a shame
> 65,995

But if they can grab 4 mio bucks they are satisfied.
But I don´t want them to leave Europe next year (maybe forever)
with half-full stadiums like in Chicago yesterday.

Lowered prices, packed stadiums, a satisfying farewell - that´s
what I would like. Otherwise they should call it quits.

>If you don't like the idea -
> stay at home!

That´s what all those people did (look at the statistics if you can read).

Too Tough - I really don't follow you. But the thing is: Going to see the Stones - is a volountary thing. One doesn't HAVE to. But if one enjoys doing so, that's good! It's a choice we make. I like the songs. I like the different live versions. I like meeting other fans that I've seen around Europe, the States, Asia etc. And so do a lot of others. And I doubt that we'll stop enjoying ourselves, just because you have a problem with that. Can't you just accept that. The Stones wanna play. We wanna see them.
Can I read? I'll let you guess. Guess three times. If you can count. (Sorry, just couldn't controll myself... I'm Out of Control! But I like it!)

Oh, yes - and comming up next (for me) - Atlantic City, hopefully Beacon at least one show, and Thanksgiving in Honolulu... I love it. I refuse to get old and grumpy. Old and happy - however - FINE!
Robert, Gazza, everyone - See you in stadiums, arenas, theatres - pubs and places Too Tough doesn't like us to be...

With 17 songs and tickets at 300 euros ??? Not for me ! Thank you. The end of a long and beautiful love story ...

I do not trust those figures. The numbers for The Stade de France are just simply stupid : both audience and average price.

No, several others. Horsens, amongst them. 85.000 people... I just don't understand what pleasure it gives you to lie about these figures!

Re: Europe 2007 - 40 shows

If youre able to sell about 95% of tickets or more for a show without having to paper the venue with loads of giveaways and last minute "2 for 1" panic offers, then youve judged the potential market pretty well, I think. A show is only sold out because there was MORE demand than supply.

They struggled in some parts of Germany (for obvious reasons which have happened before in World Cup host-countries). However, shows in Milan, Vienna and Paris had to be rescheduled to new dates in the height of the tourist season at short notice and two of the Scandinavian shows (both of which sold out very quickly) were postponed until the end of the tour. When you do that, its quite reasonable that a sizeable proportion of the audience who were going to go on the original date wont be able to attend on the new date. To reschedule a show in Paris for the last weekend in July is one of the worst dates they could have picked, but obviously because of their schedule they had little alternative

Besides Bergen, another one WAS sold out too. 59'000 tickets. And they had to increase. 10'000 tickets. Duebendorf/Zurich. 4'000 not sold. Ok but it was announced after Keith's accident.

Horsens 84'588 of 85'300 sold. Göteborg sold out. and others nearly. So what did you expect after this Keith news months before the shows? Thousands of people did not buy tickets. And when they started, people were on holiday or had planned their holidays. France End of July? I guess it's absolutely great that so many people went to the show. August.. Raining all over Europe. Freezing ..and Germany World Championship in June...

I wait till next year.

I've seen some pics with many empty sections there.

Re: Europe 2007 - 40 shows

The "many empty sections" are probably due to the fact that the Stones didn't want to sell tickets BEHIND the stage. If the view's too poor, they're not up for sale. Unless you were there and saw it with ypur own eyes, don't believe it. A lot of people on this board have strong opinions about the quality of shows they never went to, and also about "figures", empty sections etc. I find that rather puzzling. May I suggest they read a book or get some exercise in stead?

You saw pics, but that's all. I was there with my entire family. I agree some seats were left, but due to sound columns where you got no view. TV channels and medias reported an audience of 89,000. The serious Rock&Folk ( equivalent of Rolling Stone in France, though edited since 1965 or something, or can be compared to FT with regard to seriousness ) indicated twice an audience of 80,000. Only one paper, Le Parisien, a tabloid which cannot be trusted at all ( you would not read it ) talked about 70,000 in attendance adding that only few seats were left but considering it as miracle due to the date of the concert, the worst of the calendar. So only those who attended can speak. As for the average price provided, I would fire the people who did the maths. It's a pure elementary problem.

Who knows? Maybe the arenas you suggest is already in the planning stages. If it's 40 concerts all over Europe, it could easily be arenas, or what do you think? Possible?

They will perform in Europe. For those who don't want to come feel free to stay at home. And read about the set lists, moan about songs and ticket prices. I will go. And I am sure there will be many great shows with lots of fans attending.

I was at the shows in Europe, and I don't understand why people complain about empty stadiums. It is a disease, just like old people complain about prices, as compared to how the prices were before the 2nd world war. Forget it. Lighten up. If you are frustrated about ticket prices then get an extra job or go to one show only. It is not that expensive. That is their price, that is the value of a band that have been around for 44 years, and there will be plenty of people who want to see them.

No 'cause we don't have Euros here in Denmark. It's still "kroner". I'm in a financial slump at the moment, so I can't save for it. I hope to go to London though. It's London before Denmark for me this time. Seeing them on their home turf is a dream for me. If I can't get tickets right away, I'm sure some of you Britons can do a little magic later though.

Strange how one band's value for being watched a scarce two hours
is 1000 SKR, when other only cost half or a third.

Anyway I long for the Europen tour.
Hope Keith will keep it up; and the others too.

The show in Nice this year (8th of August) was very much enjoyable in spite of a predictable setlist. No doubt I'll go next year if they tour Europe again.I am still thrilled by these guys able to dust off songs never or seldom played live in order to satisfy the widest range of their fans.
Sway ,As tears go by ,she was hot ,get off of my cloud, love is strong ,she's so cold ,monkey man ....it's worth the ticket price.

Anything is worth it if ya got the money.
Some people at this board are rich as trolls,
others less rich.
Stubborn as on' ol' Irish goat I withhold
that the ticket prices are way way way too high
& therefore the Stones MAINLY attract middleaged men.

They have become all what they despised when they were young.
The bureaucratic middle-bosses in my town are Stones-lovers:
in my world there is something deeply deeply wrong then.

Couldn't agree more with you Baboon. They could save money in using a smaller and less designed stage, getting rid of the horns and all these pyrotechnics.Cheapest tickets should be sold at 25/30 euros allowing everybody to attend a gig.
But middle aged bosses (I am one of them) can be truly fans and behave like young enthusiastic kids during a Stones concert.
One question however: do you believe that youngsters are so much attracted by RnR these days?In listening to my nieces ,nephews ,friends' children I am not so sure about that.
